Falling for You

Part 13

Is he mad!I am not his girlfriend. I was confused. Did he hit his head somewhere? 

"That is so delightful. You should come over for dinner", my mother said out of no where. I looked her way and gave her a glare.

"Aww, honey, Nathan is so charming. Stop being so shy in front of him", she said and went to shake Nathan's hand. What the hell is going. As the conversation elevated, I noticed my dad giving a dirty look to Nathan. What is my dad's problem. I decided to go over to him, but then Nathan held onto my arm.

"What are you doing", I asked, shoving his hand off.

"Blair, you are going to be late for work. We need to go now", he said as he let go of me. I looked at my watch and he was right. If I didn't leave now, I would be late. Shit.

"Ok than, mom I have to go to work. I guess I will see you guys later", I said as I headed for my car. 

"Sweetheart, please come over for dinner and bring Nathan. Please", she said. Ugh, I don't want to be with Nathan. I can't upset her.

"Yeah, okay maybe. I got to go now", I said as I got in my car. I looked in Nathan's direction to see he was already in his car, driving away. I waited for him to exit the gate. I looked one last time at my dad and noticed he was looking at me. I need to get to the bottom of his behavior. I then left.

A few minutes later...

I arrived just in time. I gave my car to the valet and raced into the building. The lobby was filled with so much people today. They were all crowded around someone, but I didn't have time to see who it was. I raced to the elevator and pressed the 60th floor. Half way up, I realized something. I work in the lobby with Isla. I groaned and waited for the elevator to reach the top so I could go back down. The doors opened and it revealed my office to be empty. Where is everyone. I pressed the button to go down, but then it took me up. Dang it. I must have pressed the wrong button. It went up and it opened revealing Harvey's face. He smiled.

"I am so sorry Harvey. I think I pressed the wrong floor button. It won't happen again", I said.

"Don't worry Blair, you are not in trouble. Come, follow me", he said as he extended his hand to me.

"No, I have to go work in the lobby. I came up here by mistake. I should be going", I said as I pressed the button to the lobby.

"If you want to do this the hard way, let's do it the hard way", he said. He took my arm forcefully and dragged me out of the elevator.

"Harvey, what the hell are you doing", I asked trying to pry his hand off my arm. He didn't reply back and kept walking. Finally, he took me to a door that looked quite familiar. It was the penthouse suite. He took me in and then let go of me.

"Harvey, what do you think you are doing? Nathan said he-", he cut me short and made me sit in the living room. He gave me no choice so I sat.

"I know what Nathan said but he and I agreed that you are not going to work in the lobby today", he sais heading to the kitchen. I followed him.

"Where will I work then"

"You will work on this floor". What, is he insane. I have to work on the floor they don't want me to work on.

"But you guys said I couldn't"

"Well now you can. Just for today"

"Okay fine. What is my job then?", I asked impatiently.

"You will be a secretary for me and Nathan. It's not a hard job as long as you do what we say".

"Fine. But you didn't tell me why I couldn't work in the lobby today", I asked. He looked at me with a frown and then he became all serious.

"I don't know how many times we will remind you but I hope this is the last. Dan, as you should know, hosts a party for the company each year. The time has come and the party is tomorrow. He will not be here all day but instead will be down in the lobby with all his employees for a meeting. Since you are not allowed near him, you will be under our supervision up here. Do I make myself clear?", he asked.

"So basically, this is about staying away from Dan?", I asked. He looked at me then smiled.

"yes, when you put it that way. Now follow me", he said as he went for the door. I followed him and soon we arrived at a hallway of doors close to the elevator. We went into the first one and it revealed a large office room painted grey and white.

"This is my office. You can work in that empty desk over there. You will work here until the commotion downstairs has calmed down", he said showing me around. "Now, let me show you Nathans office". We walked out and the door in front of his was Nathan's. We entered and I was greeted by his familiar scent. The room was big as Harvey's and the room color was the same.

"This is Nathan's office. He spends most of his days in here. If I am not in my office, I would like you to work in here, okay. There is am empty desk in here. You can work on that, he said.

"Okay, thanks for showing me around", I said.

"No problem. So I have to go downstairs right now so settle in here for now", he said as he went toward the door. "Also, if you happen to spot anyone on this floor, please do not talk to them". And then he opened the door and left. Huh, so I am going to be alone in here all-day.

I worked on the desk in Nathan's room. 2 hours had passed since Harvey brought me up here. His room was quite lonely but the view was amazing. I starred at it for a while and then went back to work. As soon as I sat down, the door opened. I looked to see who it was and it was Nathan. He was wearing the same thing he wore this morning but his hair was messed up. He noticed me and closed the door. He walked toward his desk and examined my finished assignments.

"Good job" was all he said. He then said nothing else and sat in his desk. The silence between us was really driving me crazy. He called me his girlfriend this morning and how he is acting like nothing happened between us. I ignored the silence and kept working. By the time I was done, it was lunch time. I got up and noticed Nathan look at me.

"Where are you going", he asked.

"It's lunch time. I'm going down to the cafeteria", I said as I grabbed my purse.

"Sit back down. You are going no where?", he said as he went back to typing on his computer.

"I'm hungry and I can't function on an empty stomach. As I recall, I didn't have time to eat anything this morning because you showed up. And I still don't understand why you showed up. And I finished all my work so excuse me", I said as I made my way for the door. He then turned me around and made me face him.

"I came over today to take you to work and explain to you about the party tomorrow. You resisted so I thought I would tell you when we got to your parents house. I didn't realize your family would be there so I completely forgot. I'm sorry about your breakfast but listen to me, under no circumstance will you approach Dan. Do you understand me?",he said, his face all serious.

"Yes, yes , whatever. I don't care about stupid Dan. Just let me eat", I said now frustrated.

"Fine, but I am coming with you"

"Okay, let's go"

After lunch...

We came back an hour later. We had lunch in awkward silence and came back up in awkward silence. He said nothing and I said nothing. We reached his office and then he finally spoke.

"I have a meeting with a client and the conference room is taken so I am going to meet his here. It won't distract you, right?", he asked.

"No, you go on and have your meeting", I said. He nodded and we both went back to work. After thirty minutes, there was a knock at the door.

"That must be him", Nathan said and went to open the door. I went back to work, not caring about who it was, until I heard the other man's voice. It was Josh.
