Part 33

"Get your hands off me", I protested. Asher still had his hand on my mouth. He showed no signs of letting me go. He slowly leaned in towards my face. I though he would kiss me or something but instead leaned into my ear. I could feel his hot breath tickling my ear.

He whispered, "You will not tell anyone about today's encounter. You will act like I'm a normal client. You won't tell Nathan and Daniel anything about me. My lawyer doesn't know anything so talking to him will be a waste of time. If you try to tell anyone about me, I will make sure you never live to see the sun again".

Who the hell is this guy? I seriously want to talk back but I'm...too scared?

"Do you understand me?", he asked, gripping my shoulders harder.

I winced from the pain and just nodded my head.

"Any questions before I leave?"

"I don't want to take on your case", I said, closing my eyes from the pain. "First of all, I am not a lawyer. I was hired here as an associate and then receptionist and then somehow became a board member so understand me when I say that I am not experienced in this field. My job is to take care of customer complaints and such. I'm not a freaking lawyer".

"Don't worry about the case. I'm not actually suing. It's all an act".

What the hell? He's not suing? What kind of game is he playing with me?

"What??? What do you mean this is an act?", I asked, outraged.

"I never lost any money. I just made up a case and gave it to an incompetent lawyer. He believed my story and took it upon himself to turn things right".

"I can't believe you. Then why do you need me?", I asked, ever more confused.

"You are my inside man. You will tell me everything about Daniel Kerrington and this new co-ownership".

"I beg your pardon", I said, trying to get out of his grip. "I will do no such thing. Are you out of your mind?"

"So you are saying you won't do it?"

"Of course I'm not going to do it", I seethed.

"Then I have no choice but to threaten you".

"WHAT! GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME", I started screaming. He then grabbed both my hands and pinned them above my head. He took his other hand and put it over my mouth.

"Keep it down will you", he said through gritted teeth. "If you don't do as I say, your sisters life will be at risk".

"You think I'm going to fall for your silly threats?"

"I don't think Bay will enjoy being kidnapped", he said with a smirk.

Damn it. He even knew her name. Even if I don't like her, I can't put her life at risk. But I don't think I can work as an inside man either. Can someone please open this broom closet and arrest this man.

"Fine. What do I have to do?"

"Every week, my assistant will set up a meeting to discuss the case. I'm firing John cause I don't need him involved anymore. All you have to do is tell me what Daniel is planning about the co-ownership. That's all". He slowly let go of me and backed away. "Remember Blair, you tell a single soul, your sister will be gone in a flash". I gulped and just stared into his dark brown eyes.

"What if someone finds out about the case? And about you?"

"They won't. Just write on there that I changed my mind about suing. They'll leave you alone". He pulled his dark brown hair back and straightened his watch.
