Daniels POV:

I heard distant voices shouting my name.

"Daniel".

"Wake the hell up!"

"Kerrington, open this door".

Tired of the noise, I opened my eyes and sat up in my bed. Looking over to the wall on the clock, I witnessed that it was 9 am. I usually wake up later than this. More banging brought my attention toward the door.

"Daniel, open up. Its important".

Getting up from the bed, I opened the-for some reason- locked door and found Nathan, Harvey, and...my mother, standing in the doorway with a look of frustration on their faces. Me still, sleepy and shirtless, yawned and glared at them.

"What was sooo important that you had to wake me up?", I growled, trying to keep my eyes open. Mother spoke up, not waiting for Harvey, who was just about to say something.

"Daniel, this is about your cousin", she said with frustration. My eyes were fully open now. Anything related to my asshole cousin was important.

"What about him mother?"

"Why don't we sit down", she suggested.

"Just tell me now!", I raised my voice.

"Calm down Daniel. Heather wants to sit down so you should respect that", Nathan said. He had positioned himself on the opposite wall of the hallway. He looked really tired. He had bags under his eyes. Even till now, him nor Nathan haven't told me whats wrong with him but I have to be a good friend and not pry. I mean I let my anger get the best of me and almost killed them. I shuddered at the thought.

"Daniel sweetheart, are you okay?" Mother snapped me out of my thinking showing a face of concern.

"Yeah sorry mom. Why don't you guys wait downstairs. I'll take a shower and come down in a while", I said as I smiled at her. Honestly, mother was the only person I trusted all these years. She was there for me through all my hardships with this company. I know she isn't showing compassion towards Blair, but I know deep down, she is just looking out for me. She thinks Blair is one of those gold-digging backstabbers. Though, I know Blair. She would never do any of the the sort. I just have this weird feeling when I'm around her. I want to always stay close to her.

Mother kissed my cheek and left, with Harvey and Nathan following her. Making my way back into the bedroom, I took a quick shower and got in my black business suit. I combed my jet black hair and went out of the room. As I made my way towards the stairs, I heard shouting from the living room. I leaned in to hear what was going on.

"Miss Heather, I told you for the last time, if you don't want me to be your sons wife, I will gladly not marry him"

Blair?

What is she doing here?

"Young lady don't you dare raise your voice at me", mother yelled at her furiously. Before the scene got too messy, I swiftly ran down the stairs and grabbed Blairs arm. She was surprised to see.

"Mom, calm down. Blair here was just leaving", I said to her, signaling Blair with my eyes to get out of here.

"Daniel, I wanted to talk to you about something", she said, seriousness in her voice. I whispered in her ear "not now". She gave me an'I am going to be back later' look and picked up her bag that was on the ground. She shoved me in the shoulders slightly, glared one last time at my mother, and left.

"That women", mother scoffed as she took a seat on the long, grey couch.

"Mom, please-"

"Don't need to explain anything to me Daniel". I looked over at her and saw that she didn't want to talk about Blair anymore so I changed the conversation.
