(High school AU)

'She is really quiet.'
'Who?'
'(Y/n) (l/n)'
'Oh her, can she even speak?'
'Poor thing...'

"(Y/n) can you please answer number 4?"

She mumbled something incoherent and looked down.
Her teacher nodded and wrote down the answer.
"Alright, for your next project you will working pairs."
"Emi and Sasaki. "
"Urushihara and Rina. "
"Maou and Alas (actual character I swear)."
"Ashiya and (y/n)."
"Suzano and Sairel. "
He continued down the list and (y/n) stopped paying attention.
"The project will be: write about effective communications."
She rolled her eyes and began to doodle on the desk.
"You are very talented."
She looked behind her, Ashiya smiled and held out his hand for her. She stood up and shook it, introducing herself.
"Would you like to start working on our project today?" he asked.

(Y/n) thought for a moment and nodded.

(Y/n) met him at the entrance gate of the school so they could walk together. He arrived with two other boys accompanying him.
"Hey, you're (y/n)" the purple haired one said.
"Yes, I am aware." she said.
"Why are you so quiet? "He replied.
"One who can not understand my silence does not deserve my words." she said looking forward.
"Tch." he sounded.
"Plus.... No one plans a murder out loud." she finished.
This made him walk a little faster.
Ashiya patted her on the head and smiled.

Once they arrived they began to work right away. She had slightly opened up to him and his friends. Ashiya and (y/n) began to grow tired of working and decided to call it a quits for the night.
"It's pitch black and pouring down rain (y/n). The streets are flooded and you don't have a coat." Ashiya stated. "You're staying here tonight."
The room was so small it gave her claustrophobia thinking about it.
The beds were made and so were sleeping arrangements.
"Night (y/n)." Ashiya smiled.
"Yeah." she replied.
He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer. She tried to get out of his grip, but it only tightened. She gave up and sighed.

In the morning when they all woke up, Ashiya found his head in (y/n)'s lap as she leaned against the wall. She ran her fingers through his soft white hair and smiled at him.
"Morning Ashiya. "
It was the first time he had seen her smile.
"Morning (y/n). " he replied.

____
"Being an effective communicator takes 3 things."

"A conversation, two people, and a balance of listening and talking."
"You can't have a conversation with yourself, and people grow bored when all the other person does is talk about them."
"This generation has lost the ability to converse. Therefore we need to relearn how to."
___
"Great work (y/n) and Ashiya. You sure have set the bar high." The teacher clapped.
The other students presented, but for once, (y/n) found it hard to pay attention.

No, no, no. Education. People are a...waste of time...

(Y/n) couldn't help but think about how nice Ashiya had been to her.

I can't do this, not now, not ever! Alone, I want to be   a l o n e!

Alone...

I hate the damned word.

She was fighting a war against herself.

Ashiya looked over and smiled at her.

.
.
.

Why? Why does this feel so wrong? Why do I want this so badly?

"(Y/n), you did an awesome job." He smiled.

(Y/n) felt like her heart shattered into a million pieces. She felt so broken, so torn.

"I-I'm sorry..." she said.

"For what?" He asked.

"I want to...be friends." She whispered.

___really big time skip____

It was senior year and (y/n) had shown major signs of change. She smiled more, had a couple friends, and spoke confidently.

But one thing didn't change.
She still wanted to love Ashiya as more than a friend.

"Ashiya! I have to ask you a question." (y/n) smiled.

He smiled slightly and walked over to her.

"Ashiya, do you like my new ear rings?" she moved a strand of (h/c) hair behind her hair.

He leaned in close to try to examine the non existent object. (Y/n) closed the gap between them and kissed him slightly.

"Sorry, wait..." she trailed off."I'm not all that sorry. I knew what I was doing. I like you Ashiya. I want to go out with you."

Ashiya looked at her stunned. He took a deep breath and asked,

"Can we do that again?"
