Jack's pov.
Me and Jeff turned our heads sharply, not moving an inch of our body's.. our eyes scanning the ground, the trees and the sky for anything or anyone that could harm us. "H-hello?" A small voice stuttered out, the child could only be about ace's age maybe a year older or younger. A few minutes went by and a small boy popped out from behind a tree, he was soaking from head to toe and he seemed to have been out here for a long time. He looked up from his feet at me and Jeff, his eyes widened and he tried to run away "no stop!" I shouted "we aren't going to hurt you!" He slowly stopped and turned back around and nodded his head "promise?" He asked, me and Jeff held out our pinkies to show the boy our trust. "M-m-my names-s toby", the boy smiled and walked warmly up to us. "How old are you buddy?, You're too young to be out here alone", "i-i know, I'm s-seven.. I esc-caped him" he said, his voice shaking
"who toby?" Jeff spoke up, looking at me worriedly.
"The t-tall man, tent-ticals come o-out from behind h-him" he shrugged his shoulders, "me and m-my mommy were at the p-park a-and h-he took me from her" toby continued.
"He's gotta be following him then, we got to get going" Jeff whispered to me, I nodded in agreement.
"Well toby, we are going to help you but you have to listen okay?", "you have to be very quiet or-" I was cut off by the all familier static sound. Toby fell to the ground holding his ears, I scooped him up in my arms and darted the other direction Jeff swiftly behind me. The boy started to scream and the only thing I could do at that moment was to cover his mouth with my hand, leaving his nose out so he wouldn't suffocate.

The static started to fade and the woozy feeling wore off, Jeff slowed Infront of me.. his finger up. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath and opened his eyes, he nodded his head "we are far away enough he can't sense us, but we must keep going or he will catch up with our scent". I nodded and released the boys mouth,
"listen toby, we are helping you.. the man is bad, the tall man" I tried explaining, toby didn't say a word for a few seconds not even a breath. He looked up and nodded his head, keeping quiet.
"Get on my back" Jeff said crouching,
I shifted the boys body and set him on his feet. The boy closed his eyes and walked around to Jeff,
"just hop on you little shit"
"shut up!" I hissed
"s-s-sorry" toby muttered and climbed onto his back, clinging to his shoulders.

I felt bad for the boy, I was once that small and fragile. Easy to throw around. I was so innocent and didn't have a bad bone in my body, I don't really remember those days, nor do I want to.

"What should we do about meeting Ben and Sally now?  Did we go the right way?" Jeff asked shaking me out of my daze,

"I don't know really, I don't think I was paying attention" I replied.

"Really Jack, this is your daughters life at risk! Are you kidding me?" he got angry and shouted at me,

"Excuse me Jeff but who's smart idea was it to let my daughter go with some hideous disgusting monsters that I hardly know anymore!" I spat back
"and FIRST OFF, who are you to be SCREAMING at me! YOU were the one around this whole time, you and them didn't figure this shit out yet?" I kept going.
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FUCKING FAULT JEFF, YOU GET US OUT OF THIS OR SO HELP ME!!!" I finished, he huffed out a breath and pointed the direction we needed to go. Toby stirring in his sleep every so often, this boy slept heavy.

Jeff's pov.
My back was starting to cramp up, it's been a few since I've carried anything this heavy for over a period of time.. I was tempting to ask jack to take the boy but, he was still angry and huffy puffy walking with his stomp like a child.
He still had child like traits, like his temper and his actions while pissed off. It's like he doesn't think before he does, such as helping this boy instead of paying attention to getting back to his daughter. I couldn't blame him though, he has a kid himself and I know he's going to protect this boy like he does ace. So as part of this responsibility, I will take toby in. Like a son, it'd be kinda cool raising a boy.
Toby wasn't helping the fact that my back was killing me, all the boy did was talk in his sleep.. stuttering like he does awake. The boy had a pair of goggles around his neck and a long hoodie on, I don't even think he has on pants. Just his boy boxers, he must be freezing. By the time we get to Ben and Sally he's going to be awake and shivering, I felt bad for the poor sickly boy so I pulled him around my body and held him bridal style. He only stirred when he felt the heat from my body, it caused him to bury his face in my arms.
We had to be close to Ben and Sally by now, I blew the soft whistle trying to flag them down if they were near. Jack looked up from hanging his head and gave me a confused look,
"We came up with this one a few months after you left" I told jack,
"It was hard for us to find a way to stay within so many yards away from each other.. so I whistled and got one back from Ben" I finished explaining. He just nodded and copied the whistle, I heard a copy back a few hundred yards east of where we were standing. Jack smiled at me and walked towards the sound, hoping it wasn't a joke.
