I love this story.

Jade POV

Standing at my locker door, I was busy exchanging books for the next period when I smelled a familiar scent that brings me comfort. A scent that has brought me comfort for years, even when I only had the stale version available to me on a t-shirt.

I paused, peering around my locker door only to see no other than Julien at his locker down the row.

Seriously? He has to have a locker just feet away from mine too?

I was seriously beginning to think that someone up there was laughing their ass off at my life.

Letting out a sigh, I went back to exchanging my books when Maya slid up next to my locker, leaning against the doors so she was facing me. Glancing up, she had this mischievous look about her and a small smirk propped up on her neon lips.

That could only mean one thing.

"Oh god, what did you do.."

When Maya has that look on her face, it means she's been up to no good and Maya rarely is ever up to no good.

She shrugged, her curls falling over her shoulder. "Oh ya know... just a little..."

At that same time, I heard a shrill scream from down the hall a little ways. It was the kind of scream that you hear in those scary movies when a girl keeps falling down and running into the guy with the really large butcher knife.

My head snapped toward the direction it came and I watched as Eve hopped around in her stilettos, screaming as loud as she could, frantically waving her hands in a panic.

Everyone began running toward Eve's locker as Natalie stood beside her with a disgusted expression on her made-up face.

I slammed my locker door and dead-panned Maya who was snickering so hard she had to cover her mouth to keep from bursting out laughing.

"No you didn't..." I rolled my eyes, my lips turning up at the corners before spreading into a severe grin. "You are literally the best friend ever!" I grabbed her in a hug as she laughed loudly, hugging me hard.

"I know." She sighed, moving away so we could link arms. It was time to investigate and I felt like I was on top of the world right now.

It takes a lot for Maya to get mad. It takes even more for her to start messing with someone she considers a 'friend' even if it was someone she didn't really care for or not.

Maya has never had a problem with Eve, but she can't stand how fake she is. She does, however, have a problem with what Eve has been doing with Julien, flirting with him and being thirsty around him when she knows what we were two years ago. Even if she didn't fully know, she knew something was up and that was the main reason Eve was going for Julien.

We made our way to the scene, our heels clicking against the tiled floor. Passing Julien, I could see out of my peripheral as he stood by his locker, eyes on me as I passed him by without a glance.

I wanted so badly to look at him, but I couldn't. I couldn't let him know that he ruffled my feathers or that I noticed his presence.

But when I caught that scent, more pungent and concentrated than the bare minimum I was smelling before, my eyes drifted up on their own accord and his stony features came into view. his eyes on mine. He had his arms crossed as he leaned up against his locker, not bothering to join the circle of people around Eve's locker to see what was going on.
