Self care is important. Anyone who says that many of the acts of self care we practice are viewed by them as selfish, do your best not to let all your emotions out. It's good to have control of ourselves mentally. Self control means you have enough grey matter in your brain which is what the grey matter is responsible for in your brain.

If some people or anyone in your life makes you feel bad enough on the level of being toxic for your mental health and wellbeing, it's time to say you need time to think things through. And then come back with a wise and logical answer that helps phrase or word our point of view of letting toxic people out of our lives short term or long term and all other acts of self care is selfish from our view.

Even if those people may be your family, it's a good idea to have a short term plan of moving out into a place like a friend's house or a mental hospital if necessary. Which will help you further along in your recovery and help your family learn how actions come with their consequences and risks.
