**| North's POV |**

We were meeting this German bird team in a hotel room. I stood behind Owen with Doc next to me. Owen knocked on the door in a series of random patterns and then waited. A few moments later the door opened and a tall, leggy, brown-haired woman answered the door.

She smiled, her hazel eyes slowly looking over us. I knew that look and held back from rolling my eyes. They better not be one of those teams. I've met other bird teams. Some are fine, others are a little crazy.

"Hallo," she said as she broke out into a huge grin. Her smoky voice was thick thanks to her accent, making her come off as more exotic. "Must be the Blackbourne team, yeah?"

"Owen Blackbourne," Owen said, raising his hand to shake hers. "These are my teammates, Dr. Sean Green and North Taylor."

Shaking Sean's hand, she smiled, "Doctor, huh?" Her eyes trailed over his body and Sean just flashed her a friendly smile, keeping the flirtiness out of it. Sean was one of the ones who refused to date Academy birds. As a doctor, he's had to help them after a mission goes wrong and he didn't want someone he was in love with to go through that.

"Maybe you can teach me? Sometimes we get hurt and need first aid."

"I'm sure as an Academy team, you are more than qualified to administer first aid. If not, I might have to talk to the local instructors and ask them why their training is lacking."

Her eyes narrowed and she pressed her lips together before bursting out with laughter.

"I like you guys," she said, this time the flirty tone gone from her words. "You don't get easily distracted.

She turned to me and we shook hands. When she pulled away, her fingers curved so that her black-painted nails scraped against my skin. She chuckled when I scowled at her.

"Mein Name ist Amala Koch. Come in," she said and stepped back.

A bathroom was to our right the moment we went through the door and then we stepped into the main area. The room was large, with two queen beds and a couch that no doubt turned into another bed.

Two more women were in the room. One was by the desk next to the flat screen TV, typing away on a laptop, her blonde hair pulled away from her face in a ponytail. The second was on the couch with a remote in her hand.

When we came in, they both turned to look at us with curiosity and wariness.

I eyed the Sang look-a-like. I could see why he gave us her name. As she stood up, I could tell how small she was. Her blond ponytail fell past her shoulders and gave her soft features. Her green eyes were big, like Sang's but they were guarded and suspicious. She only came up to my chest when she walked over, her movements smooth and graceful.

Her eyes raked over each of us slowly, studying us.

"Why want to speak to me?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. "If the Wahre Sachsen know of this, they'll kill me. See me as traitor."

"We are looking for a woman and believe she's part of the gang. We learned of your connection and thought it was best to connect with you," Owen said, unfazed by the woman's accusations.

The woman snorted and went back to the laptop. The third woman stood up and stretched, her shirt riding up high enough to show off her belly button ring. Her light brown eyes stared at Owen, her face expressionless. She came over and stood next to Amala.

"I'm Elli Werner. Don't mind Helmine, she's just worried all the work we put into this mission will be ruined because of you." Her voice rose slightly on the next part. "No matter how many times I reassure it's okay, she still can't help it."
