Chapter 39

"(Y/N).. (Y/N) it's okay.." Elizabeth cooed your name softly and reassuringly, but hints of alarm was laced into her voice. You attempted to wipe off the tears sliding down your soaked cheeks, but new ones kept your foggy eyes occupied.

"I'm sorry Elizabeth-chan," you were able to choke out an apology between sobs. "I'm just so tired of being scared."

Her pale hand moved strands of hair out of your face, exposing your drenched and depressing countenance. Her expression fell for a moment, but she curved her lips into a beautiful smile.

"Oh (Y/N)-chan, we're here for you. Don't worry," Elizabeth hugged you with extreme comfort. She emitted such care that you relaxed and returned the kind hug.

You took a quick glance at the doorway and noticed that Merlin no longer stood there. All was left was a suspicious vibe from her previous presence.

"(Y/N)?" a familiar voice called.

"There's Meliodas coming to your rescue," Elizabeth whispered in your ear teasingly. You looked up at her and puffed your cheeks out in embarrassment. Quickly, she left your side and exited the room, giving Meliodas a small smile before exchanging privacy.

You blushed when he appeared at the entrance. He had no shirt on, revealing his very fixed and tight abs. His only piece of clothing was his baggy white pants.

He rushed to you and immediately helped you stand up with a slight pull of his muscular arm and tight grasp of his hand.

You stumbled a little and landed on Meliodas's hard chest. He wrapped his arms around your waist with such a light touch that it tickled your skin. His face rested on the top of your breasts.

At this point, you ignored his pervy habits and took in his advice and protection. You breathed and ran your hand through Meliodas's blonde soft hair.

"God dammit, you're always worrying me," he murmured through your cleavage.

You sighed and frowned. "I'm sorry. I really am."

Meliodas peered up at you with worried eyes. You could tell that so much care reflected off of them. His gaze was so enchanting that your heart began to pound swiftly.

His hands switched positions across your waist to your hands, gripping them in a soft yet tight grasp. He leaned his head closer to your face, his breath so warm and direct against your lips.

"(Y/N). What's wrong?"

His countenance was so near and close and his lined expression was once again serious. The blooming emotions in your heart reflexed you to step back.

You inhaled and looked him straight in the eye. "A holy knight came. She said to watch out..I think she hears what we say because she just teleported out of nowhere. We are being observed. It's so obnoxious.."

Meliodas bit his bottom lip once receiving the information, which made you change your view to the floor. You brought your hand to his cheek and softly brushed your thumb to soothe him.

"Meliodas. I cause you so much trouble..What more?" you asked in deep concern, letting your frail body to be enveloped by his robust figure.

You felt soft lips place a tender kiss on your forehead. The hairs on the back of your neck sprung in response from the sudden gesture. You glanced at Meliodas and smiled as his signature grin was plastered on his face, cheeks painted with a light tinted red.

"I don't care, and I don't know how many times I have to say this for you to understand, but no matter what comes our way, no matter who tries to capture you because of your power, I am here to protect you. Love you. Bring you back into my arms. Because that's what a man does for his love..right?"

Your expression gaped in such shock. Meliodas looked away in embarrassment and rubbed the back of his neck. You rested your hands on top of your chest, believing that they could sustain such feelings in your beating heart.

"I guess you get it now..huh?" he mumbled shyly.

You opened your mouth to attempt to respond, but nothing came out. In your head, you've always knew. But for him to finally confess was different.

You just nodded and hugged him tightly.

Tight enough to feel like the last hug.
