Shawn shook me awake when we landed in Boston late Sunday night. It took me a while to realize where I was. Home. I was finally home. But was it really home anymore? My mom was gone. The only thing to ground me here was Sam, and right now I had no idea where we stood.

After exiting the terminal and getting all of our bags, we headed towards where Remy was waiting. I couldn't wait to see him again. Over the past few days we'd been practically inseparable. He was the best thing that had happened to me in a long while. A regular part of my day now included going on walks and playing catch with Remy. He'd been a constant comfort whenever I left the house. I no longer felt unsafe opening the front door. The feeling of peace was so absolute that sometimes it made me want to burst into tears.

And it was all because of Sam. I wasn't sure how I could possibly thank him. I could still hear his words echoing in my head, 'I promise, I'll explain everything'. He better have a damn good explanation ready. I was done playing games. Either he would tell me the truth or I would leave, and this time I wouldn't come back.

Remy gave me an ecstatic greeting when we picked him up. He licked my face over and over as if to say 'why'd you leave me in that dark scary place'. Besides snuggling extra close to me in the car he seemed none worse the wear for his first trip in the sky.

Shawn drove while Remy and I sat in the back. I couldn't help but take a deep gulp of air as we got closer and closer to Sam. What would he say? Did he think that I would just run right back into his arms? If he did, he had another thing coming. I had more respect for myself than that. I'd coached myself over and over about how I would not forgive him until he'd earned it. This was not something that could be repaired with mere words. The kind of wound that he had left on my heart would need time to heal.

With a heavy heart I said hello to the security as we pulled up before the mansion. Whatever I had pictured in my mind, it wasn't this. I was practically opening the door before the car even came to a stop. I ran up to the figure who stood on the front steps, leaping into her arms. Zoey returned my hug with a fierceness that had tears clouding my vision. As we pulled apart I couldn't help but grin widely as I saw that she was wearing my gift. The charm bracelet was hung proudly around her wrist. I'd picked out each and every charm. I'd gotten three, a bus for the time we had first met, a heart engraved with the word 'sister', and an infinity symbol showing that our friendship would last forever.

Zoey grinned as she caught me staring at the bracelet, "Sisters?"

My teeth widened in a grin, "Sisters." Remy decided to make his presence known at that point in time by nudging in between us.

Zoey laughed. "And who might this be?"

"Zoey, meet Remy." My dog leaned up to give her a proper Remy style greeting. "He's amazing."

"He's so cute." Zoey sent me wry smile. "Though he doesn't seem like much of a guard dog."

I frowned. "You know ..."

"Yeah." Zoey gave me a tentative smile. "I decided to hear my idiot brother out and even though I don't agree with how he handled the situation, I understand why he did it." My face scrunched in confusion as she spoke. "I really think you should just hear him out."

I sighed. "Why do you think I'm here?"

Shawn walked up behind us and gave Zoey a bright smile, "Hey Pinkie! How long has it been? Three years?"

Zoey sent him a playful glare. "Don't you dare start with that awful nickname. I was in highschool for christ sake. I was going through a phase."
