Chapter 7 – Watching Disney Movies Should be a Religion

When I entered the kitchen, Lucas was sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee and scribbling on a notepad. My feet made a creaking noise and he looked up smiling at me, “Hey Max, I see you got changed…” He smirked looking at the shirt I was wearing

Laughing awkwardly I took the seat across from him, “Uh, yeah… Regan lent me a shirt and April gave me the pants…” I trailed off looking around the kitchen; it was reasonably big with a kind of rustic industrial look about it

“Do you want some coffee?” Lucas asked raising his cup in question

I made a face, “No thanks I’ll pass, I don’t drink coffee” I shivered at the memory of me picking up my dad’s cup one day, I thought it was my tea so I took a big gulp and bam! I got hit with the awful taste of coffee.

Lucas laughed at my expression before he sobered up and started staring at me, raising my eyebrows at him he seemed to get the message of me saying ‘why are you staring at me’ because he placed his cup on the table, “I’m sorry I’ve just got to ask, why blue hair?” he asked resting his chin on his hands

I let out a laugh, “Why not blue hair?” I asked him with smile on my face

“Ah, touché” he grinned, “I like you, you’re funny. I get the feeling that April likes you too”

My smile softened and I nodded, “Thanks, you guys are great and again thank you for letting me stay here”

Lucas waved off my thank you as April and Regan entered the room, Regan looked slightly uncomfortable and I could see his cheeks tinted pink under the kitchen lights. The sun had set outside and April rocked on her heals, “So, you guys wanna’ watch a movie or something?”

The three of us nodded causing April to grin, “Great! I’ll order pizza,” she chirped happily walking over to the kitchen table picking up a random phone that was sitting there before typing in a number humming to herself happily

I watched her amusedly while Regan just shook his head and muttered something about ‘weirdness going to a new level’ under his breath, Lucas heard this and shrugged getting up from the table and heading towards what I guessed was the lounge room.

The two guys collapsed into the couch making me let out a little laugh, “Come on, have a seat” Regan said as he pulled me down beside him, butterflies stirred in my stomach as I snuggled into he side. I began to roll up the legs of the sweat pants I was wearing before snuggling back into Regan’s side. Lucas watched us with an amused smile on his face before it molded into one of pure adoration as April skipped into the room lying down across our laps. Her head was resting in my lap and she looked up at me with a goofy smile, one that couldn’t help but make you smile back, “Wanna watch Tangled?”

Laughing I nodded, “Are you kidding me, that is one of my most favourite Disney movies of all time”

April widened her eyes, “Me too!” she exclaimed gleefully, “Man, they should make watching Disney movies into a religion…”

The four of us burst out laughing and Lucas got up to set up the movie, the opening credits rolled and April and I began to sing along to the special song to make the flower work its magic. Out of the corner of my eye I could see Lucas looking down at his fiancé lovely while she sung along without a care in the world, this bought a genuine smile to my face. What caught my attention though was I could see Regan watching me in amusement with a soft smile on his face.

Suddenly the sound of the doorbell ringing broke us from our laughing fits, picking up April head I placed in on a pillow, “I’ll get it guys” I laughed out before heading to the front door
