17.02. Upon our return to our room to discuss, Linton was not happy. We argued in hushed tones and, despite my trying to assert that we would get an annulment upon our return to London, she remained reluctant.
17.22. I have persuaded Linton to marry me. Words I never thought would be written in this book. Or anywhere. I shall not, however, disclose my methods of persuasion. There may be no need for an annulment.
