Eyes Shut (Zach Dempsey)

Chapter 6

"Perri? Perri?!" I snapped out of my thoughts as Zach stared at me

"Huh?" I asked

"Are you ok?" He asked we were at his house studying, but I couldn't stop thinking about what I said to Hannah.

I felt like a piece of shit, earlier that day a picture of Hannah and Courtney was spread around. People didn't know where it came from but I did. Hannah was telling the truth, when we talked I knew she was telling the truth, but Tyler is still my brother. Tyler is the baby of my family, and I've protected him all my life. It could kill my parents to find out, that their golden boy wasn't perfect. He was actually really sick in the head. I just couldn't bring myself to say I was wrong.

"Babe!" Zach snapped and I looked at him

"What's wrong?" He asked and I just shook my head

"I just have a lot on my mind."

"Talk to me."

"This Tyler and Hannah thing I don't know what to do." I told him what happened earlier

"Nothing." He said simply.

"What?" I asked and he held his arms open.

"Come here." He said and I moved into his arms

"You got to relax, you can't fix everyone's problems."

"But this is my brother and my best friend that puts me right in the middle."

"I just think you should take a few steps back from Hannah and her drama. Ok you were a little harsh, but not wrong. She surrounds herself with drama, and as for Tyler just say the word and I'll kick his ass." He said and I laughed a little.

"I love you."

"How much?" He asked with a smirk, and I leaned up and kissed him. He pulled me closer as I wrapped my arms around his neck. When we heard someone clear their throat, we pulled apart and saw his mom in the doorway.

"Interesting form of studying." She said with a small smile.

"Yeah, this how I've been passing." He said and I hit his arm.

"Perri will you be joining us for dinner?" She asked me

"I'd love to Mrs. Dempsey."

"Great, but this door stays open." She said and I felt my face get hot

"Got it mom." Zach said as she walked away. We looked at each other and started laughing

"God that was embarrassing." He said

"You think?"

"I could've been worse, I could've had my hands down your pants."

"Oh my god Zach!" I said with a laugh

"I'm serious, you're the reason why I'm failing math."

"Whatever, you need to focus."

"How can I focus when I'm studying with the most beautiful girl in the world?"

"You are slick Dempsey." I said kissing him again and we pulled away. He pulled me back in when we heard

"Perri's here!" I looked up as Zach's little sister Mai jumped in my arms

"Hey Mai!' I said hugging her tight

"Perri will you come play with me?"

"No, we're doing homework, go play by yourself." Zach told her

"But it's so boring playing by myself."

"Well go help mom cook, we're busy."

"Yeah kissing." She said and I laughed as Zach frowned at her.

"Perri aren't you afraid of his cooties?" She asked making me laugh some more.

"I helped him get rid of them I promise." I told her and she looked skeptical

"I'll tell you what, we're almost done and then I'll come play alright?" I said and she nodded and ran out of the room.

"Sorry about that."

"Don't worry about it you know I love her." I told him and kissed his cheek.

After we finished, we played with Mai yes we made Zach play dolls too, until his mom called us for dinner. We ate Zach took me home, he helped me stay busy, so I didn't worry about this Hannah and Tyler thing. So, I called Kat

"What's up P?"

"Hey kitty."

"Uh oh, what's wrong?" She asked.

"I did something bad." I said then I told her what's been going on.

"Wow, that's fucked up Perri."

"I know, I feel terrible. I was so mean to her, but he still my brother."

"But he's wrong, what's he did was criminal, and you can't defend that. You should try talking to your parents or someone about this."

"This will kill my parents."

"Duh no parent wants to find out that their kid is a sick freak."

"Zach says I should leave it alone."

"But you don't agree, so that's why you called me."

"Yeah."

"I just told you, try talking to an adult. Then apologize to Hannah, she going be pissed rightfully so, but you guys need to work this out. When I last talked to her she seemed sad."

"It's been a tough year for her so far and this doesn't help."

"I know I swear cameras should be outlawed."

"Agreed...Oh god Kat why did you leave?" I said and she smiled, we talked some more then said goodnight. My mind was rushing with how would I apologize to Hannah
