Erelil's POV

I don't know how long I've been hear, but it's been years. Smaug brings me food occasionally until he trusted me to forage for myself. Anytime I tried to run away it was the people of Lake Town that paid the price, with their lives. I've made my own clothes as the night gown I arrived in became to dirty to wear. Many dwarf bodies were here when I arrived, I have collected most of them and given them a proper funeral. But there are some I could not move without alerting Smaug and that would anger him.

Now I have three dresses that I can wear and I wash them every few days when I forage for food. I only brush my hair now instead of putting it in some sort of braid. Most of my days I wake up ate breakfast, clean my room, sing to Smaug, have lunch, forage if needed, wash clothes if needed, clean a few of the treasures, have dinner, sing to Smaug again until he sleeps and then I usual go to the front gate to look up at the stars to sing a song for myself.

"Siren!" Smaug calls as I was sweeping the old throne room. Sighing I stop sweeping and go see want he wants this time. I soon reach the treasure hall to see Smaug resting on a pile of gold. "Sing for me" he demands.

"Which song should I sing?" I ask.

"The one you made about my kingdom" he states gesturing to the hall around us.

"As you wish"I say before taking a deep breath and began to sing.

"Listen up 'cause this is all I have to say
This could be the thing to get you on your way
Just imagine what is old and new again
Maybe then you'll understand

I tell you

Take a look around and tell me that you don't see
Just a worth-wild pile of gold and gems
I see a kingdom - Shining bright

I can see the colors coming through, yeah

You'll find the beauty, if you look at something right
It's all about your point of view
And life is all about your point of view

Everywhere you look a story can be told

And the tales they tell are worth their weight in treasure
In a place that's filled with mountains made of gold
Radiant castaways and broken bits of jewels

I dare you

Take a look around and tell me that you don't see
Just a worth-wild pile of gold and gems
Cause I see a kingdom - Shining bright

And if you try then you can see it too, yeah

You'll see the beauty, if you look at something right
It's all about your point of view
And life is all about your point of view
I see a kingdom - Shining bright

I can see the colors coming through

You'll find the beauty, if you look at something right
It's all about your point of view
And life is all about your point of view

Your point of view

Your point of view" I finish singing and Smaug smiles as he takes a nap. Sighing I return to my sweeping before I begin to feel hungry. I realize it's dinner time and go heat up some soup I had made the other night. After eating I went up to the front gate and look up at the stars trying decide which song to sing. I then remember then song my mother told me about, how it was sung when elves first encountered men. I decide to sing this song as I take a deep breath.

"You think I'm an ignorant savage

And you've been so many places
I guess it must be so
But still I cannot see
If the savage one is me
How can there be so much that you don't know
You don't knowYou think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a nameYou think the only people who are people
Are the people who look and think like you
But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger
You'll learn things you never knew, you never knewHave you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains
Can you paint with all the colors of the wind
Can you paint with all the colors of the windCome run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sun sweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worthThe rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never endsHow high will the sycamore grow
If you cut it down, then you'll never know
And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon
For whether we are white or copper skinned
We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains
We need to paint with all the colors of the windYou can own the Earth and still
All you'll own is Earth until
You can paint with all the colors of the wind" I finish singing looking up at the stars as the wind blew my hair back. "I will return one day mother and father" I promise. Then head back to my room and curl up on my small bed. Covering myself in a blanket before falling into a light sleep dreaming of my home.
