What is 'I Am Pilgrim'?

Can you commit the perfect crime? Pilgrim is a codename for a man who does not exist. The adopted son of a wealthy American family once headed up a secret espionage unit for the US intelligence. Before he disappeared into anonymous retirement, he wrote the definitive book on forensic criminal investigation. But that book will come to haunt him. It will take him to a New York hotel room where the body of a woman is found face down in a bathtub of acid, her features erased, her teeth missing, and her fingerprints gone. It is a textbook murder- and Pilgrim wrote the book.

Why I loved it?

This was the book that got me into the crime/ thriller genre, and for that I will always be grateful. I read this book at 12, so my memory of it is slightly hazy. However, for me this book was exactly what an amazing crime thriller should be. It was highly intelligent, with a complicated plot and intriguing concepts. I was blown away, in short. I will reread this marvellous book one day, but I will forever hold the memory of falling in love with it that first time.
