What is 'Persuasion'?

'Persuasion' is focused around the Elliot family and their acquaintances. Anne Elliot is twenty-seven years old, and is generally ignored and overlooked by her father, Sir Walter Elliot, and her sister Elizabeth. When the family fall into a financial crisis, they have to rent out their house to Admiral Croft and his wife. With these new tenants, some of Anne's past is dug up, and she is forced to face a man she had loved but also rejected- Captain Wentworth.

Why I loved it?

I have always been the type of person to rule out classics completely because up until this year I would always claim they just 'weren't my thing'. This was the classic that actually got me to appreciate and like classical literature, and since then I've read many more classics and enjoyed most of them. It a light-hearted book that is relatively easy to read, with likeable characters and - surprise, surprise - humour. It can actually be quite funny in its own way.
