What is 'The Shawshank Redemption'?
The film chronicles the experiences of a formerly successful banker as a prisoner in the gloomy jailhouse of Shawshank after being found guilty of a crime he did not commit. The film portrays the man's unique way of dealing with his new, torturous life; along the way he befriends a number of fellow prisoners, most notably a wise long-term inmate named Red.
Why I loved it?
The Shawshank Redemption is that classic film which everyone raves about but I hadn't got round to watching it till yesterday. And I now understand the hype. I became so immersed within the film, and grew to care so much about all the characters. It was such a treat to watch, and gave me so much hope even though I'm not in prison. In general, I didn't want the film to finish and I wanted to see what happened afterwards... And after that... And after that. It was amazing, and I think I could watch it again and again just because there are so many aspects and sub-plots which I loved.
