Narrator's POV

It was a quiet day in the NCIS office of special projects. There was no active case, so the team sat around the bullpen, while Kensi was laid out of the sofa in the corner, all discussing their thoughts on who would win the basketball game tonight when Hetty stepped in "Did we catch a case?" Deeks questioned the tiny operations leader

"I'm afraid the case is out of our jurisdiction but involves members of your family mister Deeks" said Hetty "At 10 am this morning there was a bombing at the FBI's Los Angeles field office." She informed "Your presence is needed at Cedar Sini medical hospital"

"Hetty Zara took the girls along with her to work. Are you saying that they got hurt?" He questioned, panic evident in his tone

"I'm afraid so, but before we jump to any conclusions their injuries could very well be minor. It was mandatory that the agents in charge inform you" Hetty explained in an effort to calm him, but his mind had already wandered far. He couldn't handle the mere thought of losing another child, and truth is he shouldn't have to have this fear, but they all know very well of the monsters in this world

Sam: we'll be right there with you Deeks

The team grabbed their things and headed out alongside the detective who broke every traffic law in an effort to get to his girls as soon as possible. The hospital was crawling with FBI agents and officers, a few whom he recognized and one was able to lead him and the team into a private waiting room "I need to know what's going on with Zara and our daughters" he told the man in charge who was the FBI's assistant director McGregor

"I understand your worried, but hundreds of agents were injured. Tell me the agent's full name and I'll see what I can find out" agent McGregor replied

"Supervisory special agent Zara Deeks. She's the Indian agent that the news is reporting died when she disarmed the second explosive device" Deeks spoke frustratedly "Runs the joint terrorism task force"

"Oh, you mean SSAIC Chopra. She's the only reason our people were able to get out. She managed to disarm the second device that would have taken down our building and anything else in a six mile radius. The news was right about her selfless act to save her fellow agents and civilians, but I assure you she's still holding on. She was rushed into surgery just a moment ago, and as for the twins the doctor will come out to inform us of their condition their condition shortly" said agent Carter

"Thank you" said Kensi before leading Deeks to an empty seat "They're gonna be okay babe" she assured him as she laced her fingers with his

"Could this day get any worse?" He sighed frustratedly, running his free hand through his golden locks. Little did he know, today had any whole lot in store for him

Kensi who's now 36 weeks into her pregnancy had spend the morning experiencing what she'd describe as a tightening sensation. She disregarded the feeling, because the pain was light enough to shake off, but after two hours spent seated in the waiting room she felt the full force of her first real contraction

"Baby are you okay?" Asked Deeks as she squeezed onto his hand, groaning in pain. Kensi didn't respond, she was too busy looking down at the warm liquid that drained down her legs, making it known to Deeks that her water broke

"Your kid has horrible timing" she told him as the pain of her contraction subsided

"At least one good thing will come out of this day" he replied as a doctor he's very familiar with stepped in

"Maura did you treat the girls? Are they okay?" Deeks questioned the hazel-eyed, golden brown-haired woman standing before him

"No; I just arrived a few minutes ago, but I did check on Annabella and Amelia who I can assure you will be okay. They sustained minor injuries. Bruised ribs, mild concussions, and a few scrapes and bruises. The two had to be sedated for the pain, and will be off of their feet for a while but will make a full recovery." She explained "For your convenience both girls are in 406" said Maura

For the first time since hearing the news earlier this morning Deeks was able to take a breath of relief, forgetting momentarily that his girlfriend's water had broken until she squeezed his hand as she breathed through another contraction

"Maura Kensi's water broke" he informed

"Today seems like the worst day to be a Deeks, or in her case to be having one" said Maura, as she brought over a wheelchair for the pregnant agent

"I can walk" said Kensi

Nell: Kens sit. I'll get yours and the baby's bags from the car, Callen and Sam will stay with the girls and Eric will wait for news on Zara

"Thanks partner" said Deeks as she threw her his car keys before following his girlfriend and old friend into the elevator and onto the maternity ward where he helped kensi get changed into a hospital gown and settled into the bed

"Is there anything we can do to delay the labor?" Asked Kensi who wanted her focus to remain on the twins who she's come to love like her own "There's already so much going on, his birth will only add to your stress" she explained

"Babe Noah coming early isn't making me anymore stressed, if anything his early arrival made me a little more relaxed knowing I have him to look forward to after the craziness dies down" he pecked her lips "I love you, and I love how much you care for my girls but let's focus on having our son for now okay?"

"Okay" he smiled at her as he took her hand in his

As brave as she may be he knew she was also afraid as any new mom would be. With all the unwanted surprises of the day, they knew Noah wouldn't be one of them, because the reality is their son is their blessing
