15. Noah's birth

Narrator's POV

Four hours had passed since the 36-week pregnant junior agent's water had broken, and aside from having her mother at her side not much had changed

Deeks' parents and sister had also arrived and were keeping the sleeping twins accompanied, so the team had decided to sit out in the waiting room. Patiently awaiting the arrival of the newest member of the Deeks family "Why won't this kid come already?" Kensi groaned through another contraction, as she held onto her boyfriend's hand.

Her labor had been going on longer than she'd expected, and that along with the fact that she had no idea what's going on with Zara who'd become one of her closest friends had her irritable

Julia: you're doing great sweetheart, he'll be here in no time

"I've been pushing for over two hours" she complained as she wiped away her tears. "I can't do this anymore, I just can't"

"Yes, you can babe. You're one of the strongest women and I know and we're almost there. Let's give it another try, and if we get nowhere we can take a little break okay?"

"Okay" she held both Deeks and Julia's hands, bracing herself for the pain she knew was about to come, and the moment she felt it she pushed as hard as she could for as long as she could

"I can see his head, he's almost here babe just a little harder" Deeks encouraged and she continued pushing until she heard the sound of her newborn baby's cries

At exactly 7:09 pm Noah Amari Deeks was born, and at that moment Kensi finally understood what her mother meant when she told her she won't know true love until she becomes a mother herself. The moment she laid eyes on her son it was love at first sight "Hi Noah" she cooed, allowing him to hold onto her finger "its okay buddy, you're okay" she soothed her son until his cries stopped

"You're a natural, and he's made it clear he'll be a mama's boy," said Deeks as he stroked the infant's cheek before the doctor came to ensure his airways were clear

Julia: he truly is perfect. You did great Kensi

"I honestly don't know if I could have done this without you guys"

Julia: you would have done fine, this was all you

The doctor allowed them time with the baby before having Deeks cut his cord and the nurses take him to be cleaned off while Kensi delivered her placenta

He gazed down lovingly at the sight of his infant son fast asleep on his mother's bare chest. Kensi had just gotten done feeding baby Noah, and it was evident that the junior agent was exhausted, but already taking on her role as Noah's protector, she didn't want to let him out of her sight

"Get some rest babe; I got him" Deeks told her before gently picking up his son, cradling the baby against his bare chest. He knew how important skin to skin contact was when trying to bond with a newborn

"I know you're dying to introduce him to your mom and dad. Go ahead" Kensi urged

He leaned down to peck her lips before taking his son down the hall into his daughters' hospital room where the team alongside his parents and sister who arrived a few moments ago had gathered "Guys I'd like you all to meet the newest addition to our family. Noah Amari Deeks" he spoke softly, being mindful not to wake his son who's bright hazel eyes opened anyways

Kate: he's so precious. Can I hold him?

"Of course you can" said Deeks before handing the baby over to his sister "Kate where's Zani go?" He questioned. Zaniya Annabelle Chopra is Zara's half-sister who lives in DC where she's currently attending college. 

Kate: Zara's been that kid's mom, best friend, and sister all at once. Where do you think she is smartass?

"How do you live with this? A pregnant Kate Beckett must be intolerable" Deeks spoke to Kate's husband Rick before being punched in the arm by his sister "Dad Katie's abusing me, and using bad words in the presence of these innocent children"

Kate: He started it

"When will our children grow up?" Johanna asked her husband as she took her newest grandchild in her arms

Jim: I doubt they ever will, but they have their moments. Martin, how's my other daughter doing? I tried visiting her but her room is under heavy FBI protection

"Right now still in critical condition, but surgery went well and though she'll be off her feet for the next few weeks they think she'll be okay" he informed, knowing the team was also concerned "Guys I know none of you had to be here today, you could have easily been home with your families, but thanks for staying. It meant a lot"

Sam: Our little nieces got hurt today, there's nowhere else we wanted to be but here. We're still gonna give you a hard time every now and then but you're family, which means Zara and your daughters are family too

"That was really sweet big guy"

Sam: Well I mean it, and it's gonna be tough having two injured little girls, being here for Zara and Noah so if you need a babysitter, someone to make sure Zara's okay during the day or anything you can call us. Hetty gave us the rest of the week off so we're here for you

"You know I could really go for a sandwich if your up to it" Deeks joked

Callen: we're not here for that. Now if my nieces are hungry I could definitely go out and get them food

"What about ice cream?" Asked Mia

Callen: Well what's lunch without ice cream? I think I might be able to sneak you two out of here for a bit, what do you think?

"Can we see momma first?" Asked Bella

Callen: Sure kiddo, but we gotta be quick because she's still sleeping

He slipped on their shoes, then picked them both up before heading out of the room "Does anyone else think it's super weird how great he is with kids?" Asked Deeks

Sam: I guess Talia's softening him up. I better go give him a hand. We'll bring them back in twenty

Sam left out after his partner while Eric and Nell stood fawning over the golden-haired, hazel eyed newborn.

Today started off terribly with him thinking he could have lost his little girls and their mom, but like always things worked out. Even if their not perfect it's his little bit of perfect
