I see a light

I can barely open my eyes.

Where am I?

What happened?

I see a women at a computer

I pretend to be asleep

"Well good morning sleepy head"

Her voice is so calm

"I bet you have lots of questions"

You can bet your money I do

"The doctor will be in in just a second to explain everything"

As she moves the computer out of her face I can see her

Her hair is blond and curly. Up in a bun.

Her eyes are an icy blue

Her bouncy hair falls in her face and out of her bun as she leaves the room.

It just dawned on me. I'm in the hospital. The heart meter rings in my ear. Why do I have a heart meter? I've never been hooked up to one before.

A doctor enters the room. Her name tag reads "Schmit"

Why am I in the hospital?

"Hello, I'm your doctor. Doctor Schmit"

Already figured that out

"You must be really confused"

You think?

"I'll just give you the short run down of what we think happened"

Okay I don't need a prologue, just tell me!

"From what we could figure out, you were running and lighting struck on of the telephone poles and collapsed on you."

"But I'm fine right? I'm alive"

The doctor and nurse gave me a strange look as if I was crazy

"What?" I asked

My voice was so shaky, I felt fine but by their looks I knew I should feel worries and anxious.

"Ahem..." doctor smith gives me one more strange glance

"You have burns all over your body and..."

I start to feel an over whelming pain on my body. Is it the burns? Why didn't I feel them when I first woke up? Why am I only feeling all this know? What's going on?

"Your burns where so bad that we had to amputate your left leg, it was practically dead by the time we got to you."

I look down at my legs. A missing lump under the sheets where my left leg should be.

I didn't even notice! How could I not notice that my leg is missing!

Wait no this can't happen. The Olympics. Gymnastic. My life, it's ruined. This wasn't supposed to happen. I worked for years. I worked so hard. This can't be happening.

"Your leg wasn't the only thing to receive burns. You have 3rd degree burns in many places. We advise that you take the next few months to rest and heal"

Months? I don't have months, I have days.

The Olympic try outs are next week. Well I guess I can't really be a one legged Olympian. That's just ridiculous! Since when is there a one legged Olympian? This isn't happening. This is all a bad dream and I'm going to wake up soon and go to the gym and train. Then I will go to the try outs get into the Olympics and stand on that god damn podium with a gold medal! I'm going to be everything I wanted and more! This isn't real this isn't real

THIS ISNT REAL!
