Alex Rider X Gallagher Girls

The Drive

We made our way to a wooded park. It was staring to get dark the sun had just started setting behind the tall city buildings. Alex kept moving deeper into the woods untill we reached an old bridge that once probably led somewhere but now was just a random ivy covered bridge in a park.
We followed Alex under the bridge where he lit a torch I didnt know he had. Underneath the bridge was covered in graffiti, Alex handed the torch to Bex silently and went to a pile of stones where he uncovered a couple of sprsy cans. He went to the right hand wall and painted a massive red circle. I knew this must be where people passed on messages and this was a warning that the circle was in town.
"We're going to wait here for a college of mine. He should be here within the next ten minutes if he doesn't arrive we move." We waits for confirmation from us before leaning against the wall eyes scanning the small forest. The sound of traffic in the distance are oddly soothing and I move closer to Bex to stay warm as the temperature begins to drop.

After five minutes there's the sound of someone making their way through the forest, Once we see their silhouette Alex calls out "You can stay right there, that's close enough." The figure pauses. "Who are you?" His voice is deep, the figure was tall male and judging by the accent local  enough. "No one of consequence" Alex replies, this time he seems more relaxed a smile in his voice. "I must know." The man answers, "Get used to disappointment Eagle." The man laughs I don't know why you insist on quoting that ridiculous movie, Cub it goes against my dignity." Alex smiles as he lights the torch "I'll have you know that The Princess Bride is a classic and we all agreed that your to stupid to remember the numbers. We were saving you from yourself." The man mutters profanity's under his breath. "What ridiculous trouble have you gotten yourself into now? That you call in a favor from Sargent?" Alex half shrugs "Believe it of not that is between Sargent and I your just a glorified driver, now I'm starting to get cold I hope you left the heater on in the car. Bex and I emerge from the shadow under the bridge finally revealing ourselves to the man named Eagle, who is dressed in soldiers fatigues and from the name must be SAS. Eagle glances over at us and gives us a one over, and sends a pointed look at Alex. "Eagle these are my charges, Bex and Cammie this is a need to know situation and you don't need to know" He starts walking in the direction that Eagle arrived in. "Now lets go, they are probably already monitoring all the city's cameras. 

The car isn't fancy in fact its a family seven seater, complete with child's stickers on the window. Alex sits shotgun not giving a chance for an argument. There's silence in the car and soon it lulls me into a doze. Eagle and Alex converse in quiet voices. "I heard Anna is pregnant again, haw far along is she?" Eagle looks across at him, "Shes doing well but complains about morning sickness. Shes asked after you as well, wondering when your gonna call in again. Harry is also excited to see you, hoping you might pop in for a weekend or Christmas. Speaking of which he loved his birthday gift. He was sad you couldn't make it." Alex makes a noncommittal mmm sound. "I was in Africa for his Birthday, I was planning to call but he pauses and looks at us something came up and I didn't want to draw attention to you guy's. Once this is all cleared up I promise I'll call in after all I did promise to bring Harry to the park and for some ice-cream." Eagle makes a right turn. "I knew you were bribing him, that's the only reason he likes you best out of all the others. Sometimes I think he likes you more than he likes me." Alex nods of course he likes me more than you Eagle, I never tell him to eat his crusts or to go to bed. I am the fun guy the favorite uncle. You on the other hand are Dad, You make him take baths and force him to school, in his mind he loves you but I'm afraid you are the enemy." "So being a responsible parent is being the enemy? I feel like your turning my own child against me, your making your own minion army." Oh you've discovered my plot for world domination, I'm afraid you'll have to swear silence or else." "Is it sad that I am slightly intimidated by a threat that is fake?"

Alex shrugs "I think its a testament to my ability and skill now shut up and drive. I'm going to sleep wake me when you get tired and I'll take over. I drop after that and the next time I wake is to Alex driving the car. The scenery has changed from what I can tell. We are way out of the city and into the countryside. Bex is talking to Alex. "Was it my dad that put you up to this?" There's silence for a minute, "It was your mother, who put me up to this. She was my, well we are friends and as a favor she asked that I looked out for you. Its the reason she felt safe enough to leave you two alone, because I could protect you if something went wrong."                                                          "Do you know where she is? Where my parents are?" Alex sighs "Even if I did know you know I cant tell you that, Why ask if you know the answer?" "I just thought that," Alex cuts in."That what i'd compromise a potentially dangerous mission for the curiosity of a teenager? The world doesn't revolve around you Bex, you or your friend's. God if you and your friends had just. Never mind, just ask the question you wanted to ask in the first place I hate bullshit." But Bex is like a dog with a bone, "If my friends and I had just what, come on tell me." Alex sighs. "Organisations like the circle take time to dismantle, when you guys discovered it and tried to bring it out into the open yourselves and shut it down it started collapsing to fast. If you want a job done properly do it slowly. If not.., There had been people working for years slowly working to shut down the circle. Years of hard work putting cracks into the foundation so at the right time it would all come down neatly, no loose ends no loose agents. But no you guys kept poking and poking at a sleeping wolf. Do you know what happens when you wake up one wolf Bex? You wake up the pack. When the circle started to collapse too fast after you stuck your nose in, the wrong people started asking questions. How could an organisation that had been around for centuries be so weak be so easily taken down? and those questions had answers those answers led back to agents. What do you think happened to those agents who didn't get out huh? Not only did you compromise them and their operation but also, agents in other organisations, years of espionage work down the drain in less than three years." If you and your friends had not interfered in the circles affairs beyond what you were dragged into they would have faded quietly into the night. Major operations were planned to be gone in two years and five years after that the whole circle would be just another named in the history books. Now there going to be hanging around for another twenty to thirty years, and there's going to be attempts at revivals and other people are going to move into the vacuum that the circle has left behind. So if you and your friends had just left well enough alone like you were told none of this would be happening right now." Bex was left speechless, no one had ever mentioned anything like this to them. They had all been congratulated in some form or another on what they achieved. "How come no one told us?" Bex asks quietly and I want to know as well. "At first they didn't know, it was a highly secretive operation between a few organisations, the FBI and CIA weren't involved because we knew there was a leak high up, the Secretary for Defense and a few Black Ops agents were the only Americans in the operation. They only revealed what had happened after all the remaining agents had been extracted safely and quietly. The whole thing was hushed up because The Circle wasn't properly dismantled and if other terrorist organisations ever learnt the extent of co-operation that was involved between the agency's, there would be chaos. But the main reason you weren't told was because you didn't need to know. You guys are in school, you are supposed to be learning, having fun and enjoying like not having that hang over your shoulders for the rest of your life." Bex and I mull over the information that Alex has just hit us with."Why did you tell us then? If we didn't need to know?" Alex looks back at us from the mirror, "Because I think they were wrong, you did need to know. You need to know that your mistakes have consequences, so far reaching that sometimes you are wrong. That you always need to know what is at stake, not what you think is at stake. If you decide to enter the world of espionage there is more to it than just blending in, and gathering information. Sometimes you have to sacrifice the few to save the many as shard and cruel as it is. You have to be ready to get down in the mud with the enemy. Because otherwise you might as well go into finance." After that the car is plunged into silence except for Eagles snores that have been a constant since I woke up.

So Im just going to leave it there I think its been a year since my last update and sorry about that but I had Exams and then a busy summer then I started college so its been a bit of a roller coaster. Tell me what you think, Im going to admit that Im not following the background of Alex Rider and Gallagher Girls to a T but more drawing inspiration.
