Shawn's perspective

I walk fast in the long white hallways of this cold and soulless building. It has become a routine now, but it still feels the same. This strange anxiety which erupts in my stomach when I come here doesn't leave me, even if it's the 1000th time.

God, I hate that.

After having climbed up four levels, I reach the doc's office. He called me earlier and asked me to come as soon as possible, so here I am.

"Hello, Doctor. Why did you call me ? Is there something wrong ? Is everything alright ?" I ask directly.

"Welcome, Mr. Mendes. Well, that's not easy to say, but I know you prefer when things are said frankly, so here we are : Y/N will really need your support from now on..."

She already has all my support... I don't understand. I look at him, totally confused. I wait for him to go on, but he doesn't.

"W-What does that mean exactly ?" I ask, not wanting to hear the answer I'm afraid of.

"I'm sorry, but Y/N will leave us for a better place soon. Really soon." He says with regret in his voice.

"S-Soon ?" I say as my eyes start to water.

"A few weeks, a few days or maybe only a few hours... Nothing's clear. It's already a miracle that she has been living for so long with this. She is a real warrior, that's amazing. But now, she's mentally exhausted, and her body can't handle it anymore either. You have to stay strong for her. She needs it, she needs you, Sir." He declares.

"Can... Can I see her now ? Please." I ask, almost as a whisper.

"Of course, you can. As long as you want. You must enjoy her company, minutes are precious." He smiles at me weakly. "I presume you know the way now. Good luck, and if you need anything special, ask me. I'll be right here." He adds before leaving the room.

This doctor has always been so nice with us. It's me who chose him for Y/N, I knew she would be treated good.

I walk quietly in the hallway. I look at each number on the doors of the patients' room.

431,432, 433, ...

434

I push the doorknob down and open the door. My heart aches as my eyes lay on my babygirl. This sight still hurts even if I should be used to it.

Her pale skin which was still tanned months ago but became a rosy pale tone because of the lack of sun. Her dull eyes and the dark rings under them making her look exhausted. Her visible bones through her skin. Her fingers looking more like toothpicks than real fingers. But at least, her engagement ring still clings to her ring finger. A light blue headscarf reeled around her hairless head. Her beautiful hair... gone.

But there's one thing that has never changed : her smile. Her bright smile that has stolen my heart for 4 years now. Even when she is tired and hurt, she keeps smiling.

She is beautiful. She has always been beautiful and she will always be, even in this living hell. Even if she is not like she was before, for me, she is the most gorgeous woman on earth.

"H-Hey..." she smiles at me really weakly as she tries to sit up straight on her bed. I run to her bed to help her.

"Shh, baby. Don't move, it's ok. Lay down." I obligate.

"B-But I want to kiss you..." She says in a weak and low voice, nearly a whisper. I lean down to reach her slightly blue/purple cold lips and kiss her passionately.
