The next morning, I heard Rowan and the other nurse (who I found out was called Stephanie) talking about something called 'Project E.C.H.O'. I had no idea what it was.
I heard the words 'hibernate humanity' and 'cryogenic freezing'.
Then I heard Stephanie saying, "Project E.C.H.O. I hope it works."
"I think it started in 2056. It stands for Eternal Chosen Humans Operation." said another nurse.
Eternal Chosen Humans Operation?

"Nurse Rowan, how long was I in a coma?" I asked her after lunch.
"Two years."
Guilt was present all over her face.
"I heard you talking about Project E.C.H.O."
Nurse Rowan froze.
"Fine. You've been hibernating since 2017."
"Sixty eight years? How haven't I aged? Are they my real parents?"
"No. Yours died in 2023. You were kept alive by being cryogenically frozen."
Cryogenically frozen?
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked.
"We wanted you to feel happy until you were discharged." said Stephanie.
"Where will I go? Who were the 'parents'?" I asked, making air quotes around the word "parents".
"Well..." said Nurse Rowan....
