Luca's P.O.V. (Grandfather)

I shook my head as I walked down the hall to where I knew Kaleb would be. The stress of his family and Ella has gotten to the poor guy.   He royally screwed up, but he was going through a lot. I look through the glass into the complimentary gym to see my assumptions were correct.

I slipped my card out of my pants pocket sliding in in the small scanner. The door clicked and I pulled it open. The room was bare except Kaleb in the far corner on a treadmill swearing at it to go faster. His posture was tense and pissed. He was trying so hard to keep it together, it was written all over his face.

"It would probably work better without the swearing and yelling," I called his attention.

He turned his head and sighed, turning off the machine and slumping his shoulders.

"I guess you heard my latest mess up then too."

"Come on let's just go talk." I state calmly, he is giving himself enough grief right now.

We walk silently down the hall, Kaleb dragging his feet to keep to my slower pace. We arrive apon my room and I once again remove my card and open the door. I gesture my arm for him to walk in.

"Make yourself comfortable I believe you know as well as I that this is not a short conversation." I say gesturing to the couch in the room.

Kaleb sat down and I sat beside him, he looked at me as if to wait for me to start yelling at him.

"What's on your mind?" I ask urging him to let me in.

"Just stressed. You know with Ev, and Ella and now these people we don't know, obviously with Will. I was stupid and let it get to me." He lied through his teeth, running his hand through his messed up hair.

"You do know I was on this earth before your parents were even born. I was not born yesterday and I can tell you are lying. For the past weeks you have been bothered by something, so tell me." I kept my voice leve, calm hoping to comfort slightly.

He starts with an airy laugh tears shone in his eyes as he looked at me. "I finally understand everything, god I am so dumb. It was him. He was the one that took her away."

I watched as Kaleb gave up on holding it all together. He, broke. I understood nothing of what he said, but I cold tell he needed to get it out. I sat quiet waiting for him to continue.

"I understand why my Aunt and Uncle told me I would never see him. I always thought it was the drugs that caught up to him, that's why he was in jail, God I wish that was it. He killed my mom. He was the one that stole her from me. I was 6 and I came home, and she wasn't there. My Aunt stood there crying as my dad was dragged out of the house in hand cuffs. My Aunt took me to her house. A week later when my mom was supposed to come back from her trip," He paused for a moment clenching his fists, "a week later she was dead."

He pulled at his hair, tears running down his face. "Kaleb there was nothing you could do."

"I could have done something, anything. He took her away from me. He got out of jail because of me, because he said he needed to take care of me. The judge bought it and let him out. Then he killed her. She is dead because he use me to kill her."

"You know we aren't that different," I soft answered him.

"You didn't kill your mother," he spat pulling harder at his hair.

"No but I did get my fiancée killed." I said my voice cracking. I hated admitting that out loud.

"What I thought she divorced you and then you were shunned," Kaleb spoke up looking at me for the first time since his story.

"Yes but she was my wife, that was why she divorced me. I had never told her of my Fiancée before her. When she found out she was pissed and a month later I signed the divorce papers." I let out a laugh at how stupid I was to never tell her,"My fiancée though was Liliana, my lili. She was beautiful, kind, but we were young. I was merely 20 when I asked her to marry me, she was 19. We were madly in love, but my family was powerful and arranged my marriage to their grandmother, my father was set that was who was best for the family. I was the eldest son, it was my job to do so." I looked at Kaleb who held on every word, "I couldn't do it though, I was stubborn, so I asked Liliana to marry me. She said yes and we were going to run. Start a small life, happy and together. Not even a minute after I slipped the ring on her finger, she fell to the ground, dead. My dad had followed me that night and killed her."

I pulled out my wallet, tucked in the small pocket was a bent old picture. It was the day I asked her to be my girlfriend. She was smiling wide, her eyes lit up.

"I would have done anything to get ear back. I got so caught up in it over the years blaming my wife for it and eventually she had found the letters and pictures I kept. I ruined my relationship with my family, those I loved over something I could not change. Trust me boy I know you don't want to hear this but you need to. Don't make the same mistakes I did. Let the past be the past, and keep those you love as close as you can." I finished and stood up. I needed a coffee and he needed to figure out how he would fix his wrongs.
