Kai wasn't sure what town he was in, but he was glad that it was big enough that he could slip into it unnoticed and rustic enough that some people still had clothes drying outside. It was relatively easy to grab some new clothes and change into them. He left his old clothes behind a convenient bush, and walked into town with a new red hoodie and grey sweatpants. His dark brown hair was a complete mess but that's how Kai liked it.
Now, he thought to himself, looking at all the stores around him. Where can I find a map in this joint? Hmmmm...
"HEADS UP!!!"
"Huh?" Kai looked up, startled at the sudden cry. He suddenly felt something ram into his back and he toppled over, faceplanting into the ground.
This did not improve on Kai's mood, but he managed not to set himself and the guy on top of him on fire. He did, however, yell at the guy.
"What the hell, man?!" he demanded. "What's the big idea?!"
"Sorry, sorry!" he heard the guy exclaim, and Kai felt him get off his back. "I was running really really fast and it's really hard to stop immediately when you're running that fast! Besides, I told you to watch out, you should have been paying more attention!"
Kai growled angrily. "Why you little--!" He sat up and glared at the guy who had the nerve to talk to him like that.
The person turned to be a teen who looked to be a few years younger than him. He was wearing a dirty blue t-shirt and blue jeans, and had sapphire blue eyes. His reddish-brown hair was rather short and kinda messy. Though it was nowhere near as messy as Kai's.
Kai's fingers twitched, itching to set something on fire, preferably the guy right in front of him. But he knew he'd be in some serious trouble if he did, so he settled for an angry huff. "Whatever," he snapped, standing up and dusting himself off. "Just watch where you're going next time." He turned on his heel and continued on his way. "Klutz," he muttered underneath his breath.
"Hey!" he heard the teen cry out. Suddenly, the teen in front of Kai, blue eyes sparking dangerously. "I'm not a klutz! If anything you're the klutz!"
"What?!" Kai demanded, clenching his fists.
"You heard me!" the other teen shouted, getting into Kai's face. His eyes seemed to be glowing, and was it Kai's imagination or did the wind pick up?
Kai growled and moved to shove the teen away. "Get out of my way--!"
He touched the teen's shoulder, only to receive a huge shock in return that sent him reeling. "Ow! What the hell?!" he demanded, shaking out his sore hand.
The other guy looked just as confused as him for a second, but then he smirked at Kai. "Oops, my bad," he said, not sounding sorry at all.
That was enough to set Kai over the edge. Growling in anger, he got up and shoved the teen, making sure to send some fire into his palm. Not enough to severely injure the teen but enough that he felt the heat.
"YEOUCH!" the teen yelped, patting out the flames that sprung from his shoulders. He put it out, but his t-shirt was slightly scorched. "Hey pal!" he shouted, looking really angry. "That was my favorite t-shirt!"
"Oops, sorry," Kai replied sarcastically. "Whatcha gonna do about it, Sparky?"
"Oh, you wanna see sparks?!" the teen cried, his eyes definitely glowing. Suddenly, Kai noticed something on the teen's neck glowing a bluish-white. The wind picked up and the sky seem to darken. "Then I'll show you some sparks!"
He thrust out his right hand. Blue lightning flew out from his hand, and Kai was barely able to dodge it. "Okay," the fiery teen said, very surprised. "Didn't see that coming."
