Toffee looked at you and smiled.

Toffee moved his arm you tugged on his shirt sleeve.

He put his hand up to his mouth and used his fingers to whistle. It was a low whistle but still this was sure to catch someone's attention.
And it did. You and toffee heard footsteps nearing.
