Jack
"So, are you attending this school next year?" I asked Jax. I was in charge of showing the kid around the school.
"I'm not really sure yet, to be honest," Jax admitted.
"Well, you've still got a lot of time, so no worries," I grinned at him.
"Thanks, man," Jax grinned back.
I looked at Jax's shirt. It seemed very familiar. Where had I seen it before?
"Hey, what band is on that shirt?" I asked.
"Avenged Sevenfold," Jax said proudly. "I went to one of their concerts, with my friend. Her name is JJ."
JJ! I thought. So, that's why the shirt seemed so familiar. Suddenly I had an idea.
"Hey, would you mind if I stopped by the office?" I asked.
"Fine with me," Jax shrugged. "You are the one showing me around." We made a detour to the office. As usual, Principal North was sitting at the front desk.
"Hey, is it just me or does your principal look like Santa Claus?" Jax whispered to me. I shushed him. I didn't want the kid to be getting on the wrong foot with the principal if he was attending this school next year. That certainly wouldn't be good for anybody, especially him. I would know, having been in detention most of the time in school.
"Oh! Hello, Jack and Jax!" Principal North smiled.
"Hey, Principal North!" I said. "Is it okay if I talk to you in private?"
"Sure, Jack," Principal North said, looking at me with concern. When we went to an empty room, Principal North shut the door. "Something wrong, Jack?"
"No, no!" I said hurriedly. "I just wanted to know if JJ was here."
"She is. Why?" Principal North asked.
"Well, it turns out that Jax and JJ are friends, so to make it more comfortable and most likely more enjoyable for him, I wanted to ask if JJ could show him around the school instead of me," I explained.
"Hmm," Principal North said, rubbing his long, white beard. "That's actually not a bad idea! I'll call her right this second." When Principal North called for JJ, I noticed that she was wearing yet another Avenged Sevenfold shirt.
She must be really into them. I thought.
"Yes, sir?" JJ said politely.
"Would you give this young man a tour around the school?" Principal North gestured to Jax. When JJ saw Jax, her eyes lit up. She wore a big grin on her face. The same went for Jax.
"Hey, man! What's up?" JJ said, giving Jax a handshake.
"Nothing much. We ready to do this tour?" Jax said.
"Yep," JJ laughed as they went out of the office.
"Have fun!" Principal North called after them. JJ waved back at Principal North.
Elsa
I sighed. I was looking at my textbook for tomorrow's first period class. Jack was supposed to be here with me, but he was giving someone a tour around the school.
Focus, Elsa. I scolded myself. Don't be like that. Gosh, I was missing him so much that I could hear him call my name. I was missing him so much that I could see him walk up to my table. I was missing him so much that I could see him in front of me, grinning at me. Wait....
"Jack?!" I almost screamed but stopped myself just in time. "Is that really you?"
"Yeah?" he said confusedly.
"I'm sorry. I thought it was my imagination," I smiled apologetically.
"Is this in your imagination?" he kissed me on the cheek.
"Jack!" I said. "We're in public and in a library."
"Sorry," Jack said, but his tone suggested quite the opposite.
"I thought you were taking someone on a tour around the school," I said.
"No worries. JJ's got it all under control," Jack said, leaning against his chair and propping his feet up on the desk.
"Are you simply just using her so you could get out of that tour?" I asked, suspicion evident in my voice. After Anna's break up with Hans, I was always on high alert if a boy was just using a girl. I knew Jack wouldn't do such a thing, taking advantage of a girl's brains, wits, strength, etc., but you can never be too sure. "Just because you're my boyfriend I will let her pummel you into a pulp with no hesitation."
"What?!" Jack shouted. The students around him shushed him. "Sorry," he said to them. This time he meant it. "What do you mean that I'm using her?!" he said, looking back at me. "She's awesome! It just turns out that they're friends, so I just got the idea to let them hang out with each other!"
"Okay, okay," I said, raising my hands up in surrender. "I'm sorry for accusing you. Now, can you please help me with my work? Like you said you would"
"Woah, woah, woah. Help you with your work? I thought I just said that I would spend time with you in the library," Jack said, his eyes practically going to pop out of its sockets from holding in his laughter. "You do know that work doesn't start until tomorrow. And why are you asking me to help you? I'm not exactly Albert Einstein."
"Do you think that I don't already know that?" I teased.
"Hey!"
"I'm kidding," I laughed.
He gave me a puppy-dog pout. "Sometimes I wonder if I'm a good influence on you."
"It depends on who you ask," I smiled, kissing him on the cheek.
Jack chuckled. I smiled at him. Jack may sometimes be annoying at times, but in the end, he was a really great boyfriend.
I then returned to my book and got lost in the world of geometry and world geography.
..~..
It had seemed only five minutes, but when I looked at the time on the library's clock, I realized just how fast time had flown. It was already closing time!
I looked back at Jack, only to see that he had dozed off.
"Jack," I whispered. "Wake up. The library's closing." Jack groaned and mumbled something that I couldn't understand.
"I'll see you tomorrow," I smiled at him. Jack nodded and hugged and kissed me goodnight. I watched him leave before I went out the doors myself. I was surprised to find that nobody was in the dorm.
They must be exploring the place. I thought.
I put on my pajamas and crawled into bed, anxious and excited for the next day. Tomorrow was a new day, a new adventure, and a new page of my life. And I couldn't wait to see what happens.
