Despair.

A feeling of painful, immense despair bloomed in his system like flowers do in spring. Soon, his mind went blank, with dread the only thing present. Other than it, was a sea of nothingness. The dread was an invisible demon sitting heavy on his shoulders and he could only hear the sharpening of its knives.

But, for what, or for whom, was he despairing?

Komaeda searched his entire being, but he turned up with no justification, none at all. The heart monitor had a change in display, from steady, slow but proper breathing and beating, to a slower, almost worrying pace.

He swore he saw something moved in the corner of his eyes. But despite turning around at a rate fast enough to make him giddy, there was no one, nothing.

As he felt the dread pushing and pulling his insides into a mess, he warily eyed the window beside the bed, and then it happened. He would describe the dread that consumed him as a slowly approaching train. Like any good nightmare, it doesn't matter where you run because it keeps on coming just the same. As time runs out your feet become heavier until they are set in concrete on the tracks. And then all you can do is wait to be destroyed, wait to be nothing more than blood and bone fragments.

From what he saw, rather, what he didn't see; he knew that unless he could soar the skies and push away the sun or turn back time- his 'train' had arrived.

And he didn't do exaggeration, he never did.

Komaeda did nothing but watch with widened eyes- he couldn't do anything but watch with widened eyes. In front of him was like something out of a movie. A stuffed toy was moving effortlessly, like a native in their land, its monochrome half white then black form greatly resembled that of a teddy bear's. On the pure white half of its body, was a small, simple bead for an eye, and on the other half with darkness its colour, was a glowing red horizontal lightning bolt like shape where its eye was, both sides connected by a mouth, left half was a small semi-circle, while the other was a long-stretched teeth displaying grin.

The display on the monitor read nothing and a ringing sounded. A disembodied, scratchy and high pitched voice filled the room, saying words slowly, dragging them out. It seemed to ring from every corner of the room.

'Bastard! you over there.'

Komaeda 's breath hitch.

'Please, don't think I can't see you.'

Nope, it wasn't referring to him-

'Goddamnit, I'm speaking to you! The bastard watching the great Monokuma as I kill his body, his only attachment to reality.' In this sentence, the words were said in a slightly more mundane, normal, speed with a hint of irritation underlining its tone.

'I see that you bastard have made yourself useful in this world. You have finally given someone something to remember. You finally... what was it? Ah, upupupupu, yes. You finally 'exist'.'

The unknown entity spoke with a cranky, honeyed voice, and a cheery strange laugh-

'Upupupupupu. So, I'll ask you. Since his time has come, and yours hasn't, would you like to go back? As a physical, human being?'

Something in him screamed. And he was compelled to say the words that left his lips.

'Yes.'

Doctors and nurses flooded the room in a rush-

And his world was black again.
