❝—sometimes, love isn't just about falling in love with someone you saw once. sometimes all it takes is a few encounters to decipher who they really are.❞

ONCE UPON A TIME, Kageyama noticed a girl who changed his whole unchanging life.

He never meant to notice her silly quirks and habits. He never meant to notice her presence in every practice they have. Heck, he never even noticed that she was actually existing inside his very small world.

(Full Name) was certainly your average first-year higschool student. Studying whilst slacking off, being with friends and at some point being all alone, arriving on time or ending up late; she had a very steady life to the point that he was almost envious of the way life smooths out itself for her.

The first time he noticed her, she was taking a picture of a wild daffodil near the gym while Kageyama was doing his usual warm-up outside. She was posing absurdly as she points the lens of her camera at the lone flower not really caring if her uniform ends up being a complete mess or not. When she took the last photo whereas he finished his last drill, she smiled warmly when checking out her shot.

Of course, that smile was never meant to be seen by anyone else but the sky itself, but to be witnessing the inching of her lips upward created a foreign reaction inside Kageyama's chest. He suddenly felt weak, as if all the tension in his body left without a trace. When he batted back his attention at her, however, his whole system shook and so he had no choice but to turn away.

When he pushed his way inside the gym, he felt like he just finished a full gymnastics routine. With his heart beating loudly inside his chest, a warm feeling slowly but surely crept into his cheeks that for some time later he wondered if he was sick.

The second time he noticed her, she was sitting at the bench beside their coach and teacher, conversing in a manner that made it seem like they've known each other for a while now. Of course that didn't bother him, if anything, he was thankful of getting rid of the coach's usual nagging with a little distraction-

"Kageyama! Get your head in the game!"

Or maybe not.

The way Coach Ukai shouted at him was like a slap to bring him back to reality. He relaxed his tense body and focused back to the game, once again taking into account that he was indeed, in a middle of a practice that was to prepare them for their next matches.

"Ukai-san, this isn't High School Musical." She snorted out a laugh that made Kageyama stop, he turned to look at her way and saw that she was laughing as if someone was tickling her on the ground. Coach Ukai mumbled something under his breath and flicked the girl on the forehead, stopping her laughing spree on the spot.

"That was mean!" She said with enough loudness for him to hear. He didn't mean to notice the redness on her cheeks or the way she pursed out her lips. Kageyama heard a few chuckles around him that somehow changed the whole atmosphere of the game, the pressure that rooted the team down for the whole week was all gone as if it wasn't even there.

"You're not funny." Ukai deadpanned.

"You're just jealous." She barked back.
