My White Butterfly

I was walking through the park

The sun shined down on me, turning my brown hair red

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a white butterfly

It's beautiful white wings fluttering around some gorgeous flowers

I smiled while looking at this butterfly

It looked like it was enjoying itself

While flying around the flowers

And flying in the sunshine

A couple of days later,

I was walking onto the porch of a lake house

And I walked down the stairs

The magnificent lake in my sight

Out of the corner of my eye,

I saw a white butterfly

It's wings were fluttering around some grass that grew in the pathway that led to the beach

It looked like it was enjoying the fresh air

I smiled while looking at this butterfly

And I wondered if it was the same butterfly

From the park I was walking in

There was a slight chance it could be

I smiled as I thought about this butterfly

Flying close to me

Following me

And guiding me through life

And then I smiled because I started to think about you

I thought of how you made my heart fill with glee

And I thought of how you smiled a full-hearted smile at me

And then a singular thought entered my mind:

Darling, can you be my white butterfly?
