purpose

I'm taking AP English Language and Composition at my high school this year and in the class, we frequently discuss author's purpose.

Why did the author write that specific scene? That relationship? That friendship? That comparison?

Because every single word an author writes has purpose. Every character they create has a reason for being created. Every relationship they show has a reason for being shown. Every comparison and metaphor has a reason for being written. Because believe it or not, us authors do not write just to put words on a page. We have a purpose. We know what we're doing.

The fun part is, though, the author does not tell you the reasons. That is for the audience to speculate and interpret.

So I will not explicitly tell you the purpose of this book. I will tell you I am creating this to inject some sunshine into my life, but whatever you interpret and take away from it is up to you.

More than anything, I hope you take some sunshine. You deserve some.

 You deserve some
