NINE

The next day, at the office I worked. Scanning the paperwork needs to be done.

“Elisse!”

“Oh! Hi Emily.” I said, still scanning the papers.

“Um, what happened yesterday?”

I looked at her. “We had a date.”

“Yeah, I know but what happened?” She said, she raised her eyebrow.

I looked at her and said, “Okay, okay.” I smiled.

“Something happened?”

“Yes...”

“Oh my God Elisse! You did it?” She asked, her voice shrill.

“What are you thinking? It's not like that! It's not what I mean!”

“Then what?”

“Um...” I'm shy.

“Say it. Did you kissed?” She asked.

“Yeah.” I replied.

She was shocked. “Is he the one?”

“Yes. No doubt about it.”

She didn't spoke.

“Why? Aren't you happy for us?”

“Of course yes!”

“I really love him.” I said.

Someone knocked on the door.

“Come in.” I said.

“Mr. Win wants to talk to you.” Tanner said, “And Emily...”

“Okay.” I said.

We left the room. They went their own way and I went to Mr. Winterpock's office.

“Good morning Elisse.” Mr. Winterpock said.

“Good morning Mr. Win.”

“How's the report I need?”

“It's almost done.” I replied.

Mr. Winterpock smiled.

“Um, why are you smiling Mr. Win” I asked.

“I'm just happy, seeing you came this far, it's almost a year since I promoted you.” He's becoming emotional.

“Yes, and I will never forget that.”

“I'm hoping you'll do your best.”

“I promise.” I said.

“You can leave now.”

“Thank you Mr. Win.” I said.

Back to my office, a note was stuck in my table, it's from Emily, saying. ‘Just call me when you need me, I'm always here for you.’ What in the world is she thinking? How can she say things like this?  What is she worrying about?

I got home late, still my report undone. I lay down and took a glimpse at my phone, waiting for Allan's call. And then it rang...

“Hello?” I said.

“Hi Elisse.”

“How's your day?” I asked.

“Fine, how about you?”

“Good.”

“Elisse...”

“Why?”

“There's a problem at the A&P beach resort, I have to be there.”
