When Mary Lennox woke up Mrs.Medlock had lunch ready for her. Cold cuts, bread, butter, and some tea. Mary, and Mrs. Medlock ate; and then Mrs. Medlock fell fast asleep. Finally, the two arrived at the house.

The Manor was just as Mrs. Medlock described it. It was the gloomiest thing Mary had ever seen. She felt disgusted by the whole of it.

Mary nudged Mrs. Medlock awake, and the two were greeted by a maid.

"Well! Look whos arrived!" The woman smiled.

Mary looked around her. She could see hills filled with grass that seemed to roll for miles. She could hear the wind rush around her.

"Whats that?" She asked pointing to it.

"That's the moor." Martha explained.

"It reminds me of the ocean." Mary said.

"I don't like it." She announced.

Martha chuckled.

"Well, you have come a long way i am sure. Come inside for a cup of tea." She said.

The gruffy looking man at the door stopped them.

"Take her to her room. He does not want to see her." The man said.

Mary was brought up a large staircase, and another until she found herself in front of a fire with dinner waiting. And as she ate, Mary had never felt this abandoned in her entire life.
