She thought he could fill the void.
But she knew deep inside despite trying to avoid
That he was simply deepening the void.

So she left him on the library step
Hoping that leaving without any prep
Might add a spring to her step.

Too late did she understand
The missing part of her heart
Was with the boy she left to stand.

He was enamored by her essence,
Enraptured in her presence,
That he forgot about his very own essence.

So when she left him on the library step,
Leaving without any prep,
He couldn't comprehend the next step.

Soon did he realize
The edges of her broken soul
Had cut him deeper than he'd ever realize.
