I was going home from a mission I was helping my brother Jamie with when I saw a familiar face in the driveway. It was my boyfriend Darrin, now my dad didn't know I had a boyfriend, so when I invite him over for dinner tonight, let's see how this goes with him and my father. I walked inside the house and greeted my father. I walked to the table and sat down. A bit later I heard a knock. I ran to open it and saw Darrin standing there
"Who's that" Frank asked
"No one dad, just a friend" I lied
"Its a boy" Henry said
"Get that boy out" Frank said
"Dad, please be nice" I said
"I'm Danny, Crystal's big brother nice to meet you" Danny said
"Nice to meet you too Danny, I'm Darrin Jones" Darrin said
"I'll tell you something, you break my little sisters heart, I'll break you" Danny warned
I rolled my eyes and invited Darrin inside the house for dinner
"I'm here" Erin said. She went right to the kitchen and started on dinner
"Amy!" I called standing at the bottom of the stairs
"What?!" She yelled back
"Dinner, come down and your dad and brothers are here" I called
"I don't care about them" she responded
"And Nikki's here too" I called, knowing she would come
"I'm coming" Amy called back
Now, that's something that makes her come down every time, whenever Nikki comes over, those two girls are inseparable, they go everywhere together, Amy's the rebellious one of the Reagan's, especially with Frank, she's gotten grounded so many times I don't know what to do whenever that happens to her
"There you are, come on, head over to the table for dinner" I said to her
"Yes Aunt Crystal" she said and headed over to the table. She sat down "so grandpa, when will I learn more about how Uncle Joe died?"
"You won't ever learn about that" he said looking at her "its classified remember?"
"And you should know better young lady then to ask that" Erin added
"But Aunt Erin I-" she said then she got stopped
"No buts" Erin said and looked at her then she looked at Frank
Amy got up and went upstairs, she got a knee injury and wrist injury, whenever I ask her about it she changes the subject, she doesn't like talking about it that much, because she's been thinking a lot about her Uncle Joe and everyone else in the family
Amy sat on her bed in her room and sighed while thinking, this wasn't new for her, she was in her room basically every Sunday when we're over
"So, Darrin, what brings you here?" Danny asked as I walked back over to the table and I sat back down
"Just coming to see Crystal" Darrin said with a smile looking at Crystal
"Hey, snap out of it kid" Danny said and snapped his fingers in front of Darrin's face
I rolled my eyes and looked at both of the boys and sighed. I couldn't believe it, Danny being protective once again in my life, maybe because he has 3 kids to take care of his own. Amy lived with my dad and my Grandpa though, no big deal, she can do whatever and Danny looked upstairs and sighed looking around
"So, Darrin, what do you do for a living?" Frank asked
"Um, I'm a police officer for the NYPD sir" Darrin responded with respect
"Oh yes, your partners with my daughter Crystal" Frank said
"Yes sir I am" Darrin said looking at Frank then back at Crystal
"Dad please be nice to him" I responded
"And why should I?" Frank asked
"Because if you don't I'm quitting the NYPD to be with Darrin" I responded
"Its in the family blood" Henry added
"I don't care pops, if he won't be nice why work for dad anymore" I said
"You can't just quite right there on the spot Crys" Danny said to me
"Says you, your leaving the NYPD to be a security guard for a rich family" I snapped at my big brother
"Crystal, don't mention it" Danny said
"Your doing what now?" Erin asked
"Come on, let's just go outside Darrin" I said and walked outside
Darrin followed behind me. I found a tree to sit under and he sat next to me. I put my head on his shoulder and he smiled watching me
"Why is life so hard" I asked as he put an arm around me
"I'm not sure why, it'll get better though" he said
"He has 3 children and a house, he can't leave them" I said to him
Darrin nods "I know he does, like I said, it'll get better, I promise" he said and kissed the top of my head still sitting by me
I snugged into him and sighed. I looked out into the distance, my gun and cuffs on my belt at the ready and hidden by my shirt and jacket and my badge tucked into my jacket on a lanyard. I noticed too that Darrin had his on him too, my dad didn't really care anyway, he may be protective but he knows a good cop when he sees one, he knows that Darrin will always protect me and keep an eye on me always
"So, you, me, dinner?" He asked
"Yes that would be so sweet of you" I said with a smile
He nodded and we went to my car. He drove. He opened the door for me and closed it for me too. What I didn't realize was that Frank was standing by the window watching it happen. Darrin took me to a nice restaurant that some people could dress casual for. It didn't really allow guns but in New York, law enforcement off duty could carry guns for protection but it was very rare for an officer to do that
"This is so nice" I said
"Yes it is" he responded to me
