"How about this one?" A young man asked, holding up a black blazer with matching slacks. "It has a nice punch to it, don't you think? Really pops with the white of your bones." He held it in front of Sans, allowing the others to visualize it on him.
The short skeleton turned to Frisk and Papyrus, his expression asking for their opinions.
"Maybe a little too fancy?" The bearded man asked after seeing their indecisive faces. He rushed off, returning with another suit in the same color, only with fewer pockets and designs. He held it at Sans' shoulders as he did the previous one, scratching his chin in thought. He clicked his tongue, folding the set over Sans' arm, rushing off once more.
"I like it." Frisk said. "Especially the color, he was right about it. The black really does look nice on you."
Papyrus nodded in agreement, his arms folded. "Indeed, such a choice is well suited for you!"
Sans and Frisk shared a glance, the taller skeleton completely oblivious to his own pun.
Now if only you had the right...shirt?" Papyrus watched as the employee held a pale blue shirt in front of Sans chest.
"Try it on!" Frisk squealed. "It's perfect!"
Sans was urged into a small room where he could change, the small stall door clicking shut behind him. Very little, dim light remained inside the tight space. After adjusting the blazer, the skeleton stared into the mirror, emotion swelling in his soul. Peeking at it in the mirror, he watched the upside down heart glow bright. Sans finished buttoning up the nice shirt, turning away from his reflection, opening the door once more. All of a sudden he felt a wave of self consciousness strike him like a knife. He shifted his weight back and forth, swinging his arms awkwardly as nerves rattled his bones.
"Absolutely stunning!" The worker gasped at the sight.
Papyrus clapped his hands together as tears welled in his eye sockets. "You look amazing brother!" He wiped his eyes groaning at his own emotional outburst.
Frisk stood still, their eyes locked on the older brother. Finally they shook their head and returned to reality and ran at Sans, nearly knocking him over with a hug. He calmly wrapped his arms around the small human, hugging them tightly. He looked up at Papyrus, a soft laugh leaving him. "C'mon Paps, you're gonna make me start."
The employee began walking to the counter, ready to for them to purchase the suit. Though even after ringing up the prices, he waited politely for them all to hug it out. He could feel his own heart throbbing at such a happy sight, remembering how happy his sister was while he helped pick her dress.
"I can't help it brother I'm so happy for you!" The taller skeleton wiped his eyes, small stains left on his gloves.
Sans mirrored him, his sleeve darkening in color with the moisture. He gently released Frisk and returned to the smaller room. He slid off the fancy clothing, hanging it on a sturdy wooden hanger. Moments later he returned, now in his everyday casual clothes. The group of three walked over to the counter, paying a pricey amount for the suit, but also thanking the nice worker for his help and patience.
"Thank you, come again!" The worker said as he waved them all goodbye.
Sans set his suit nicely on the backseat of the car, then tilted his head back to look at the sky. Warm colors blended between clouds and the illusional blanket above, a peachy orange dominating overall. He stood still for a moment, just taking in the endlessly beautiful display.
Frisk and Papyrus shared a glance at one another, both shrugging as they joined the short skeleton in admiring the view. Fluffy cotton balls drifted ever so slowly, the dancing light reflecting differently on each cloud.
Frisk was first to settle in their seat, the click of their seat belt reminding both skeletons they had to go. They were eager to get Sans ready as quickly as possible, and all three were excited. The brothers joined the small human in the car, more seat belt clicking filling the air. They drove off, time passing calmly as Sans watched the sunset, light slowly dimming, fading into the darkness of night.
