Dal's pov
Pony had stayed asleep for the whole night. When he woke up i kissed his lips and said "happy birthday baby". I gave him his first gift. It was a picture of the two of us with a clue attached to it.
Cookies and cakes are where they're baked, this is where another gift waits. Xx
"Dal i hope you didn't go overboard with my birthday " he smiles at me and kisses me back. "You deserve to be spoilt" i say kissing him back. We both get dressed and head downstairs. Darry is cooking breakfast. "Happy birthday little buddy" darry says hugging pony. "Thanks dar".
Pony's pov
I had decided for everyone else, i would try and make an effort for my birthday. Even though i had dreaded it, it was something they were all looking forward too. I was finally sixteen. Thats a pretty big deal i guess. I went over to the oven and opened it. Inside was another gift. Inside was a nice pen and note book with an inscription on the pen.
Keep on believing in yourself. With it was another clue.
A special place somewhere high, a perfect view close to the sky.
This clue i had to think about for a minute. "The empire state building" i shouted excitedly. Dal kissed me and said he had something important he had to do, and that he'd be back. Dal had asked darry, soda, and the rest of the gang to go with me to get my clue.
We all ate breakfast with a chorus of happy birthdays. Then we caught the subway. The building was only a couple of blocks from the train station. I couldn't wait to see what my next gift and clue would be.
We got into the elevator and headed straight to the top of the building. When i stepped onto the terrist there stood dal on one knee. "Ponyboy michael curtis, i don't wanba spend another waking moment without you, i wanna take care of you when your sick, comfort you when your sad and always find ways to make you smile. I love you so much. Will you marry me baby?"
I couldn't believe it. "You have just taken my breath away, i love you so much too, of course i will marry you" he picks me up in his arms and kisses me and places acring on my finger. All the boys cheer and whistle. "I think this might be a great birthday after all" i say.
We head back home and celebrate the rest of my birthday. Not only were we celebrating me turning sixteen, but now we were celebrating mine and dal's engagement. We decided on a long engagement. Darry wanted me to graduate high school first. Dal and i were super ok with that. There was no hurry to get married, we new how we felt about each other, and that wasn't ever going to change.
Soda brought out a huge chocolate cake that darry had made. Everyone started singing happy birthday to me. "Thanks you guys" i say to them all. Dal wraps his arms around my waiste.
Darry and soda still have one more gift for me. They handed me a box. I opened it and inside, was a watch. On the back was an inscription my darling darrel, happy anniversary, love mary xx. Under neath that, it said to the best kid brother we could ever ask for love darry and soda xx
I looked at my two older brothers as i felt the tears on my cheeks. "We wanted you to have something special from mom and dad on your sixteenth birthday as well as from us" soda said. They were both wearing the watched mom and dad had bought them. "Thanks you guys".
This meant more to me than a new store bought watch. This had been part of my mom and dad, and it was even more special that darry and soda had added to it as well. "Even though mom and dad aint here with us, i know they'd be so proud of you today and always" darry said. They both hugged me.
"Thanks everyone, this has been one of the best birthdays a guy could ever ask for, and i love you all very much". We all ate the cake, and stayed awake talking most of the night.
Two-bit steve and soda had all fallen asleep on the floor in the living room. Steve and soda were lying pretty close to each other. Nah there just best buds i thought to myself. Darry had gone up to his room. "I can't believe my too best buds are gonna be marrying each other, man i am so happy for you guys" "thanks johnnycakes dal and i both say while giving him a hug.
Johnny heads upstairs to bed. Not long after dal and i head up to iur room. "How about one more gift" dal says. "What more could you possibly give me babe" he takes me in his arms and begins to suck on my neck, "oh". This time we go real slow with each other. He even lets me enter him this one time. Then he slowly enters me and we make love like its the first time for both of us all over again.
Dal kisses me and he doesn't take his lips off mine. "I love you ponyboy curtis" "and i love you dallas winston".
