Finnick's POV

It was the day of the reaping.
Us mentors sat to watch.
Hopefully the games were over for me. Kinda fun, though.

I didn't care who got called from my District. I wanted to know who got called from District 6. Was it that girl, Brook, I met 3 years ago on my Victory Tour?
Or was it someone else?

I didn't want it to be her, but at the same time I did.
If she did get called, she'd have the chance to win.
whenever she got hurt, I could send her medicine.
Whenever she needed a weapon, I could send her a trident. I would have to teach her how to use it first.
But I wouldn't be her mentor...
We'd have to do it privately.

If she didn't, she'd be safe.
She wouldn't have a chance of dying.
I didn't even know her but I felt like we could be good friends.

Soon the reaping was over, and I didn't even remember who's names got called from my District.
Finally, it showed the reapings from all Districts.

District 1.
District 2.
District 3.
District 4, my District.
District 5.
District 6.
I took a deep breath as I watched.

"May the odds be ever in your favor. Ladies first." The lady pulled out a slip of paper.
"Brooklynn Westbay."

I got wide-eyed.
But smiled slightly.

I walked over to my mentor when I was in the games, President Coin.

"President Coin?" I asked.
She turned around.
"Ah, Finnick! How may I help you?"

"That girl, Brook, that just got called from District 6?"

"Yes. What about her?"

"We sort of...know each other."

"What do you mean?" She asked.

I rubbed the back of my neck.
"I know I'm not her mentor, but do you think I could give her trident lessons? Just Incase the terrain is like last years or similar."

She sighed.
"It's not a no. But it's not a yes.
I'll think about it, Mr. Odair."

"Okay." I nodded.
"And when does everyone join at the Training Center?"

"Tomorrow." President Coin said.

I smiled. "Okay. Thank you."

She nodded in return.

She has to win this, I thought.

I shook my head.
Why do I care so much?

We're not even friends yet and I'm already trying to help her out.

Maybe it's the way she looked on my Tour.

The way she laughed and said she definitely knew who I was. Maybe it was her eyes that showed complete trust and loyalty towards me.

I didn't know. It was time to sleep.

Tomorrow's going to be a big day, I thought, drowsily.

I closed my eyes and fell into a peaceful sleep.
