A girl.

That's all she was, a simple girl with blue-black hair that was always tamed back into short pigtails. She was clumsy, but beautiful and kind in ways most people couldn't even get close to grasping. She saved people with a brave face. Even if they were horrible to her in return, she gave them only kind words and smiles.

This was the girl I put on a pedestal, since she stood above Paris and told the citizens that she would always protect them from the wrath of Hawkmoth. I promised to love this girl with and without the mask. So why did I not love the girl I knew without the mask?

"So you're friends with Chloe huh?" She hated me at a time.

"I was only trying to get the gum off, I promise." Her shocked face that turned blood red by the gesture of the umbrella. The was a spark was created when our hands brushed. This was the girl I was in love with.

"Adrien, if you don't get up we'll be late!" Plagg's voice cut through my thoughts. I sat up, seeing the kwami floating above my head with camembert in his small paws.

I sat up, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I threw my comforter off and got ready as quickly as possible. It had been several months since I became Chat Noir, and I was on my last warning.

I quickly put my shoes on and rushed out the door with my book bag in tow. Gorilla opened the door to the car for me before getting in the driver's seat and getting me to school. With so many akumatized victims, he was used to rushing me to school.

I quickly hopped out of the car and up the front steps of the school. The warning bell went off about 3 minutes before I was dropped off which meant I had less than 2 minutes to get to the classroom. Mrs. Bustier tended to start class a minute early.

I run up the metal stairs on the far left end of the main lobby. Plagg was tucked in my book bag, eating his disgusting cheese by the faint scent wafting up from the thin fabric. I quickly slammed through the classroom door, apologizing to Mrs. Bustier as I had ran into to her class last minute.

"Mr. Agreste, please try to be sooner next time." She said as she closed the classroom door. Class started, but as always my mind was on other things.

A blur of red and black, hair pulled back into pigtails, and a brave face that swore to protect even if it meant putting her own life aside. Even if Ladybug was on my mind, I still felt a pigtailed beauty pushing her way into my thoughts.

"Adrien, dude, I think a certain someone is checking you out." I felt Nino nudge my arm, a devious smirk upon his lips as he gestured behind us. I moved my head slightly to the right, just enough so I could see Marinette staring at me with a dazed look on her face.

Although it was really obvious that she liked me, I continuously played dumb. It was amusing seeing her so flustered around me. She was a sweet girl, I can't deny that.

"We're just friends, Nino." I said, pretending to be oblivious. Was Marinette just a friend though? I did flirt with her as Chat Noir,  but what did that really mean?

"Sure dude." Nino said with a chuckle. I shook my head in amusement, focusing on my notes. Nino and Alya had always had a sort of fantasy where Marinette and I would get together. They constantly put her and I in situations, from having me spend the whole day as her translator, to when Alya forced us to dance so close during Chloe's "being nice" party.

I felt my heart pick up at the thought of Marinette and I together. I quickly shook my head and decided to focus on what Mrs. Bustier was teaching.

"Marinette and I are going to the movies after school, you two wanna join?" Alya asked as we all walked out of the school building. I quickly took out my schedule, checking for any important photoshoots my father had scheduled.
