Chapter 14

The wound wasn't deadly.

Thank God...

No arteries were punctured, nor were any other important parts torn from the injury.

That's what the doctor said anyway...

A raven-haired man laid flat in the infirmary. Cadets, leaders, and other personnel stood in the room as they awaited his awakening, though they were in for a surprise.

You stood close to Erwin, holding his arm as you intently watched Levi. Every breath he took, every move he made... Anything from him made you happy almost instantly.

Everyone froze though. Levi had shifted his body a bit before opening his mouth, trailing out one simple but meaningful word... Or should I say name?

"(Y/n)..." He groaned out.

Eyes around the room widened and soon made their way to you, making you grow increasingly uncomfortable. Your cheeks grew warm and you didn't know what to do. You just froze and gripped Erwin's arm tighter. So tight that it could possibly fall off...

"Psst... (Y/n)" Erwin whispered. "Go to him."

You looked up and Erwin and nodded, walking to the side of the bed. You looked around at everyone, taking in their expressions. Shock. Envy. Sadness. And some were even happy... Were they happy for you?

Levi must have heard you get closer because he reached his hand out a bit. His eyes weren't open and his breathing was light but he seemed content. You looked at his hand and hesitated but you eventually reached out for it, softly taking it into yours. A faint but noticeable smile formed on Levi's face and he opened his eyes. "Are you okay?" He asked.

Your eyes widened, along with everyone else's. "Am I okay? Shouldn't I be asking you that?" You asked in all seriousness, though Levi couldn't help but chuckle, quickly groaning from pain afterward.

This was new for everyone. Levi getting injured, followed by the sight of him being affectionate towards someone, a cadet being so, then him laughing? Sure they had seen him laugh in the cafeteria that one time (Which Auruo deserved what he had coming to him!) but seeing him laugh more? This was a whole new side of Levi that no one knew what to think about.

"Oh, Levi... Don't laugh right now. It'll only hurt you." You said.

"Hush, brat... I could be dying for all we know. Let me enjoy this moment with you."

You freaked out at that 'dying' comment and rose your hands in fear while screeching, "Don't say something like that!"

A deeper laugh escaped, this one huskier than the last. It had made your heart skip a beat. Forgetting all the people were behind you, you leaned down and placed a soft kiss on Levi's forehead, receiving a wide-eyed crowd and a wide-eyed Levi also... Though, Levi smiled. Smiled brighter than ever.

The others were still watching in amazement, though one was disgusted. Petra stormed out of the room after the action you made that action, luckily everyone else was still intact. Though some were disappointed because a couple of the girls had developed crushes on Levi, just as some of the boys did with you, but they couldn't help but feel happy at this moment. Everyone knew you both pretty well... Well, they knew your personalities anyway. They knew neither of you would interact with anyone else much. It was shocking that you two interacted the way you did, but it was oddly okay with everyone... Almost as if it was meant to be.

Mike wrapped his arms around Erwin and Hanji while the three of them smiled from satisfaction.

Everyone had left you, Levi, and the nurse alone, which was nice... Besides the nurse of course.

"So when can I get out of this place?" Asked Levi, looking at you as you sat down beside his bed.

You looked at the nurse then back to Levi, a small sigh escaping your mouth. "Not for another week or so. Even then you can't do too much."

"Alright... I have another question..."

"Yes?" You chimed

"May I have a kiss?..."

You smirked, "Maybe when you're up and walking again. How's that sound?"

"Ugh, not close enough..."

"Oh boo who. Scoot over, loser." You said, standing and crawling into the bed with him. He happily obliged, though he groaned as he moved over. Poor guy...

"Levi..." You said as you leaned your head on his shoulder.

"Yes, brat?"

"I'll find who did this to you... and... and I'll get revenge!"

He smiled... "I'll probably get to them before you do, to be honest."

"We'll see... And Levi?"

He sighed, "What do you want now?"

"I like you."

"Oh yeah?" You nodded, still leaning against him. "Well, I like you too. How about that?"

"Hm... Perfect... For now."

Levi looked down at you and smiled, kissing your head now. "For now, huh?" Levi enjoyed this side of you. It wasn't one you'd see often and he wasn't going to complain. Maybe he secretly wished you'd give him more attention like that?

What was once Enmity was soon becoming more of something even greater. But what is it?
