dear readers, i have reuploaded this part bcos my wattpad glitched and i had believed i accidentally deleted this part of the story. although i managed to retrieve the original version, i had already rewritten this and found that i liked this version better, so please enjoy and i apologise for any confusion!
aera drummed her fingers on her bed, lying awake on her bed as she waited for him to text her.
if he decided to text her, that is.
she perked up immediately when her phone rang, but quickly sighed when she realised it was just a spam message.
it wasn't park jimin.
aera sighed dreamily this time as she thought about jimin. mainly focusing on the fact that he was the closest thing she had to a boyfriend right now.
for one, he was the only guy friend she had that didn't see her as a sister.
two, she was pretty sure they were flirting the last time they talked, which was about a week ago.
three, they were able to hold three hour conversations well into the night, and although the conversations usually only happened one every few weeks, they had been a sign that jimin might actually like her!
park jimin might just be the first guy to ever like her, and he might just be her first ever boyfriend.
at seventeen years of age, aera was the only person in her whole grade that hadn't dated before. frankly speaking, she was a 모솔, and she hated it.
it made her feel unwanted.
what was so unattractive about her? she thought she wasn't too bad looking, and although she wasn't stick thin, she was still quite confident in her own skin. maybe it was her personality? but if her group of friends could love her, then why couldn't any other guy?
pushing her thoughts aside, aera decided that she might as well scroll through her SNS feed before going to sleep.
she was mindlessly scrolling through the pictures before she suddenly did a double take and backtracked on the post she just saw.

aera squinted her eyes, not believing what she was seeing.
@sooji007 had posted a picture of minah smiling and blushing down at jimin who was kneeling down with a rose propped out to her. the caption was "생일축하해 minah, last long with @jiminieeeee ;)
since when were they an item?! aera gasped as she hurriedly rushed over to minah and jimin's account. minah had posted her birthday party with no jimin, and jimin just posted a selfie captioned "goodnitee ~"

what did that even mean?! aera's mind was going crazy and she was so confused. she exited back to sooji's account and even read the comments.
"cute" and "last long" were commented by a handful of people but still no response from the two parties actually involved.
aera desperately wanted to contact jimin and confirm that this was fake but she knew it would be awkward... and she was scared of the real answer.
although deep down, she had already accepted that park jimin did not have feelings for her.
she had been forcing herself to believe that he reciprocated her feelings by making false assumptions.
jimin didn't text her everyday because he saw her just as a friend... and not even that close of one...
jimin wasn't flirting with her, she was flirting with him in this one sided like.
and it sucked.
as she stared at the post, she couldn't help but scoff at herself for being so silly. jimin had purposely gone all the way to minah's birthday party as the ONLY guy to be her SURPRISE. he freaking got down on one knee which was like basically proposing to her and it was obvious that they were probably going to end up dating if they hadn't been already.
jimin wouldn't have put in so much work for her... all he did was send her a sweet birthday message thanking her for their friendship.
but the more the thought about it, the more she couldn't be angry at jimin. he was sweet and nice, but never led her on.
she also couldn't find it in her to cry. she expected herself to be heartbroken, but she knew she really wasn't because after all, her feelings for jimin weren't real.
he was just someone who talked to her from time to time, that she wouldn't mind having her first relationship with. she was too excited and dubbed him her crush.
that was her fault, and she wondered if that made her a pathetic single soul.
a pathetic 모솔 for life.
