Braver than Me

You are braver than me

I have many fears, each one haunts me

I am afraid of being alone

Of closed corners

And shut doors

For me, the dark has always been unsettling

I fear the loss of a friend

To be alone once again

Place me at the top of a cliff

And I will turn and flee

I am afraid of being weak

To lose to these fears you see

I am afraid of what others perceive

When they look at me

I fear my own body

For the pain that runs through me

Paralyzes

I feel like I may be dying

Yet that is something I do not fear

Death's chains were cut from me long ago

And though I fear rejection

Darkness and pain

You are Oh God braver than me

I would confront these doubts with you

Though not without fear

For I am still a child

And like a child, I fear nothing more than being separated from the Father
