Without Her

I feel castaway from her

To be abreast and on a maiden voyage once more

Or' the waves and through the windfall

We sauntered ever valiantly

But since I've been washed up

She has no place for me

I can comb the cat or batten her down no more

And while my blood may be thicker than water

My age has left me to become a crank of a man

Many men greater than me took their cut and run

But I stayed on her never rocking the vessel

Just watching the flaky roffle the sails

Until my maiden with her wooden sides

Left me on the shore to become a drifter without the tide
