Where the Mountains Meet the Sea

When I want to be happy all I think about

Is the fresh smell of summer ocean breeze

Or the overwhelming odor of pine trees

I lay on my back in the grass

Though the ground is hard and the grass is dead

The sky above is so alive

I watch clouds the size of mountains move without any problems

I smell the scent of flowers blooming with all their might

The water sparkles more than anything I can describe

This land is powerful

This land is cold

It is harsh

But buried beneath that winter snow

Is a warm heart only those who know

The wisdom and fierceness the land gives off

Who will live and die in the cold?

Every world presents challenges

How is mine so different?

Do you fear the winter flurries that much?

The sunrise is so rich.

The colors are finer than a kings robes

And when the sun finally goes to rest

The stars begin to shimmer all the brighter

On a sky so vast and deep that I can't see anything beyond it

Those who do not live here will never understand

All they see is a cold wasteland

Full of rigid mountains and countless swamps

Look beyond!

For this is my home

Just like me, it can be cold

Unforgiving to those who mistreat her

She holds secrets and mysteries that no one shall ever know

She does not welcome those who are not willing to stay

For only those who are worthy will see her true beauty

I think I will add a few pictures of Alaska's beauty.
