Chapter 11

Manik's pov-

I did not know Abhishek that much. He was a introvert unlike Mukti. But I can't believe that he is no more. After Mukti's breakdown Dhruv and Alya dropped her home.

Alya will be staying with Mukti tonight. Mukti really needed someone and her relationship with her parents was not exactly pleasant.

Everyone went on their own way and I was left alone with Nandini. She was looking pale and very sad.

"What happened Nandini? Are you all right? Did you know Abhi?" I asked her looking at her distraught state.

"No. Why would you ask that?" She asked

"You look like you are about to have a panic attack" I said

She smiled a sad smile and said," No! It's just that I hate hospitals"

I sensed the sadness in her voice. This must be about her dad as she never talks about him.

I put my arm around her and she but her head on top of it.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I asked.

And she just started crying more. I did not really know how to handle a crying girl.

I ran my hand over her back and tried to calm her down.

"We were a very happy family you know. And then one day a phone call came from hospital and our whole world crashed down." She said

"It's okay Nandu! Life is awful sometimes" I said

"He met with an accident and died right in front of me! He was on the bed and they told us to meet him for the last time and..." She said and started crying more profusely.

I calmed her down. Gave her some water to drink.

After some time she felt silent. I felt so sad looking at her like this.
"Come on let's get you some food!" I said and she agreed.

We went for dinner and the whole time she was silent.

Nandini's pov
We had dinner but no one talked.
All the memories of my dad were playing in front of me. Just then I noticed that Manik has stopped the car in front of a park

"What happened?" I asked Manik

"Come" he opened the car's door for me and I got down. Next he took a mat from car and started walking towards the park.

He layed the mat on the grass and slept on it.

"We are getting late and you want to star gaze now?" I asked him

"Just lay down beside me" He said and I agreed

"Why are we doing this?" I asked

"Because I love stars. They never leave us and always shine for us." He said like a child.

"You know Manik my grand MA used to say the cliche dialogue that when people die they become stars. That might be my dad" I said and then pointed towards a single star.

"No" he pointed towards a constellation of three stars

"That's your dad partying with my mother and my dad." He said

I was completely shocked by his statement! I did not know what to say!

"Manik...I..." I started

"What? You are sorry? Come on let's leave all this crap at the door steps" he said

"What do you think they must be thinking about us?" I asked him

"I know what exactly our parents would be thinking" he said

"What?" I asked

"Well they must be wondering that what a handsome guy like me is doing with a girl like you" he said with a Smirk.

"Maniiik" I said and hit him

"OK on a serious note your dad must be very proud of you. You are a very strong girl Nandini to have gone through this stuff" he said

"Aww! Manik same goes for you too. You have turned out to be just fine" I said

##### 30 mins later####

"Let's leave! It's getting late" I said and we both went towards our car.

He dropped me off at my house.

"Nandini!" He shouted and I turned back.

"I have not forgotten about the date" he said and drove back.
