Several Months Later

"Uh, Lou?"

I heard him say from the passenger seat as we pulled into the park.

I snickered at the blindfold wrapped around his eyes.

"Remind me again why you forced me into your car and made me wear this blindfold?"

"Shh.." I placed my finger over his lips. "It's a surprise."

"Okay." He sighed. "I'm trusting you."

I opened up my car door, jogging over to his side and helping him out of the car.

"I hope we're not in public because this probably looks really weird."

I laughed at him, guiding him onto the grass.

He squished it under his shoes. "This definitely feels like grass."

I continued guiding him, watching his nostrils flare from the wind blowing in his face.

"Smells like grass too." He held his arms out in front of him. "Where are you taking me, Lou?"

"It's a surprise!" I said again, leading him deeper into the park.

I finally stopped him, letting out a deep breath.

"Okay." I smiled. "Take off your blindfold."

"I'm nervous." He giggled before lifting his hands to his eyes and removing the blindfold.

He held his mouth, his eyes brimming with tears at the sight.

"Oh my gosh.." He shook his head. "I-I can't believe it."

"Believe it, baby."

In front of us was the grass hill that we shared our first kiss with a candle lit picnic I had set up for him.

He turned his body, hugging me tighter than he ever had before.

"I love you so much." He whispered in my ear.

"I love you too." I whispered back, holding back tears of joy.

He grabbed my hand, pulling me up the hill. "Come on!"

We ran to the very top, plopping down on the blanket I had laid out.

He sat beside me, cuddling into my lap. "I love this."

"I'm glad you love it." I laid my head on his shoulder.

"So.." He noticed the wicker basket lingering on the side. "What did you pack?"

"Let's see.." I opened it up. "We have.. chicken, stuffed with mozzarella cheese, wrapped in Parma-ham.. with some mashed potatoes in a container."

He giggled. "The only thing you know how to cook."

"You guessed it." I pulled out everything, laying it out in front of him.
