A Crime Against Love

Chapter 1

Mrs Hudson left the tray of tea on the coffee table, getting a satisfactory nod from Sherlock. She didn't expect anything more

"Thanks" Said John,glancing up from his laptop and also nodding and Mrs Hudson,before returning to his blog

"You boys" Tutted Mrs H,walking out the door,only to return a couple of seconds later shaking her head "Oh I almost forgot. My um,goddaughter Alice is staying in the room upstairs for a bit. She was looking for a place to stay so offered it to her. Lovely girl she is"

"Oh. Ok well when is she arriving?" All this talk of a lady staying close by caught Johns attention and he closed the lid of his laptop

"Um about 2 in the afternoon. I'm sure you'll love her. Very pretty. Oh and she's charming. Sherlock,are you listening" Mrs Hudson glanced at Sherlock who was also on his laptop, scrolling through his inbox trying to find a new case

"Hm? Yes very good. Leave please. Now" Sherlock said,without looking up from his laptop

Mrs Hudson threw her arms in the air and closed the door behind her,muttering to herself

"Sherlock! Didn't you hear what she said? A girl. Staying.Upstairs!" John was trying to get Sherlocks attention,but he kept his eyes fixated on his screen

"I heard, John. I just don't care" Sherlock mumbled

"Of course you don't" John huffed

"Of course I don't" Repeated Sherlock

"Ok,well I'm going out to get some groceries. Want anything" John asked,grabbing his keys from the coffee table and putting on his jacket

"No" Answers Sherlock,annoyed that he kept getting interrupted

"Don't wait up" Called John,walking our the flat

"I never do" muttered Sherlock,returning to his search for a good case

The Next Day

"Ok,just up here is it?" A soft voice asked from down the stairs. Her footsteps approached the door as she made her way up the stairs

"I think that's her" John rushed to the door which had just been knocked and opened it to reveal a gorgeous,blonde lady struggling to carrying multiple bags in each hand

"Hi" She called,her eyes lighting up

"Wow.Um hello" John shook his head,getting himself out of his trance and straightening his sweater "Oh let me take those for you" John took the bags from the lady and placed them on the floor of the living room

"Thank you. I'm Alice" She extended her hand which John shook

"John. And this is Sherlock" John's gaze fell towards Sherlock who was staring out the window

"Hm.Pleasure" Sherlock mumbled,obviously annoyed at something or another

"Charming" Alice practically spat,making her way inside the living room.Her expression changed when she entered the flat "This is cosy! So,where am I staying? Mrs Hudson said that you'd show me to my room?" Alice was taking in her surrounding,purposely ignoring the tall dark figure who refused to show his face

"Ah,yes. You're room is through here" John carried her bags and lead her to her bedroom "I'll leave you to unpack" Alice thanked him and made his way back to Sherlock

"God,Sherlock! Could you be any more infuriating!"

Sherlock raised an eyebrow and cocked his head to the side "Yes"

"You should go and introduce yourself" John picked up his newspaper and collapsed onto his chair

"I should,shouldn't I" Sherlock replied, remaining in his position

"I'm sorry,but where's the--" Alice walked into the living room,suddenly causing Sherlock to whip his head in her direction. He took in everything he saw. A tall-ish woman with curly,luscious blonde hair and stunning blue eyes,wearing a mint green blouse and a cream skirt, which showed off her curvy figure "Bathroom" She finished

"Just down the hall" replied John, turning to fave her briefly,before returning to his paper

"Oh.Hello" Alice said to Sherlock,ignoring Johns reply

"Hello?" Sherlock replied,unsure of what to say

"I don't bite!" Laughed Alice, extending her hand "Fresh start? You seemed very unimpressed by me at first"

"Hm.Yes." Sherlock furrowed his eyebrows and eyed the woman once more before awkwardly shaking her hand

"Ok well,I'm gonna go take a shower. It was nice meeting you...Sherlock" Alice made her way to the bathroom but Sherlock ignored her comment and had already resumed his position by the window

"What do you think?"Asked John,folding his newspaper in half

"About what?" Sherlock asked nonchalantly

"Alice of course!" John laughed quietly

"What about her?" Sherlock seemed bored by the tedious conversation

"She's... well she very pretty. And she seems nice" John remarked

"Nice" Sherlock spat

"Well...yes"

"She's ordinary. Just a girl who happens to be living with is for the time being. Nothing more" Sherlock explained,clasping his hands"Nothing less"
