masquerade ball

I was a small girl,

My mask didn't fit my face yet,

I was so new to the masquerade ball.

"Welcome to the masquerade!"

He looked so happy,

He looked like he shouldn't be here.

I envied his impeccable mask,

"Be wary of who you find here"

He says while his smile,

Is yelling he was as happy as can be.

I wanted his acting ability.

"No one seems as they look"

His deep brown eyes hold no emotion

How does he cover what the souls doesn't want to?

I want to be able to hide but my souls won't let me.

"You will see your loved ones here."

His back is straighter than a blank.

There is no turned shoulders of sorrow.

Will I ever be able to hold myself like him?

Years later:

I open the door,

A sweet elegant smile on my face,

"Welcome to the masquerade"

I say like the host did so long ago

Like I'm not welcoming them into depression and suicide

Into hiding who they are until they loose it.

"Be careful of who you trust"

I say hoping they listen to the advise

I can't loose a nother one to suicide,

Not because they trusted a mask.

"You will see people you love here"

It always helps to tell them first

That way when they see their mother,

They will not cry.

"Turn back now, or forever be in my lovely masquerade ball."

'Leave'

My mind whispers to them

'Leave dear gods leave while you can'

I fix my mask as I let them in.

"Good luck in there"

I whisper as I watch the emotions drain from their eyes
