a dream of a nightmare

as i looked around, no one was there.
yet there was supposed to be.

i trembled.

it was deep enough to kill someone.
was it a risk?
it was dark, so light couldn't shine, it couldn't get to it.
i could still hear the drops of the rain outside.

i don't know where i am.

still scared i took the jump, and i fell
but the unimaginable happened.

i lived.

i took another look around as i winced in pain,
i saw a door, was it meant for me?
was i to open this door?

so many questions and no answer.
there i sat as if something was about happen.
then, there it was, the kill of my imagination.
a nightmare.

i tried to escape but i wasn't fast enough.
there i sat shivering in fear "what could i do?"
i answered my question, nothing.
as the nightmare crept forward i took a deep breath and muttered.

"as the nightmare continues to be fueled by fear, a dream resides deep in its heart waiting to be found."

it took a while for me to realize that the nightmare was gone.
it had turned into a dream and it was mine.
