"Who eats strawberry cupcakes for breakfast??"

"Uh... me? It's totally healthy- its got fruit in it!"

It was amazing you were able to fall asleep in the first place, as the hot California nights make it nearly impossible to sleep without drowning in sweat. The summer separated you from your girlfriend, you two staying on opposite sides of the bed. Half asleep you grumbled, wishing it was the cooler seasons so you could fall asleep cuddling. Drew's soft snoring, however, lifted your mood with a small giggle, watching her as you were the first to wake.

Your blankets had been kicked off the bed, so the only thing that covered both of you was the thin sheets. Even then it was too hot to have something covering your body,  but the small fan at the end of your bed somehow made it bearable. The feeling of the fan's light, cool breeze grazing your legs. A tank top and underwear, you just kept softly observing her figure in the sheets.

'Even in this heat, she's a blanket hog.'

Thin sheets curled up in her fist that was brought to her chin, you shook your head and slowly crept out of bed to see what you could make for breakfast before she woke up. Undisturbed by the small movement, Drew continued to sleep in.

Turning on the coffee pot was a must, both of you could drink it throughout the day; the weather regardless. Your two favorite mugs lined up and ready, you head over to see what you could easily whip up without hassle. Opening the fridge, you were embraced by the chilled air it held. Closing your eyes, the cold felt nice on your neck and chest.

"Alright, let's see what we got..."

Scanning the fridge, you bit your lip. It had been a while since you guys went grocery shopping. There's not much of a breakfast you can make with leftover Chinese food, coffee creamer, produce that is still edible but looks like they could spoil any hour, and not even a full cup of orange juice. Sadly closing the fridge and having to say goodbye to the nice chill, you furrowed your brows. It was too hot to do anything, especially going to the store, and you just wanted to laze around all day.

"Good morning." You heard a sleepy voice approach you, sweet in the tone of singsong before arms crawled across your waist. Drew kissed the back of your shoulder, eyes darting over to the coffee to get her fix. Taking the pot, she poured into hers and yours next: black, but a truckload of sugar. She walked back over to give you your cup, before making her way over to the fridge to inspect whats edible for breakfast.

"Hmm," Drew scrunched up her face, looking into the fridge. She put her mug down, and placed her hand on her hip, as the other held the door open. "Hey, babe, when was the last time we went shopping?" She laughed.
